Summary

Traditional dietetics often emphasizes external metrics such as weight, calories, and macronutrients, creating a tunnel vision approach to health that ignores the psychological and emotional aspects of eating. Intuitive eating shifts the focus to internal body cues. Rather than prescribing rigid meal plans, we will engage in open and non-judgmental conversations, exploring your experiences, preferences, and challenges. Initial session is a thorough look into your relationship to food and your body. We will also talk about body movement. We’ll review your history, current situation, your goals, and why you're reaching out for help. We'll also discuss what our time together will look like. You will also receive unlimited messaging and support via confidential portal. Other healthcare practitioners you are working with such as therapist, doctor and/or psychiatrist will be contacted for coordination of care if needed. Health concerns outside of intuitive eating will also be incorporated into our sessions. Follow-up will be to discuss ongoing progress and dive into areas of resistance. Patients often benefit greatly from 6 -12 months of work. I have a strong counseling and clinical background with over 15 years of experience as a dietitian nutritionist. I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor by the Original Intuitive Eating Pros. I have a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and a Masters of Public Health (emphasis in health education). During my education to become a dietitian nutritionist, I learned that a calorie deficit would result in weight loss, and this is the approach you offer to support someone in their weight loss journey. After years of advising clients on this method, I noticed a pattern. If a client hadn’t met their weight loss goal, they felt like a failure, but what I didn't know at the time was that the calorie-restrictive approach was the failure. Eventually I came across a book on intuitive eating that fundamentally changed my approach to counseling patients with weight concerns. This inspired me to pave my own path and start my own private practice. Fun-fact about me is that I love pizza and salads.
