She has a very calm demeanor. Wants to be involved, which ought to be a good thing...She wanted the DNR paperwork signed and marked as DNR. We had an awkward discussion when wanting to take the paperwork home to review outside of her presence. She relented. Could see she was not happy that her patient and patient family did not choose DNR. She tried to convince the patient family. Negatively labeled the patient family after they refused to change the DNR based on patient wishes. Became an issue since she was telling the physicians and staff. -It becomes an issue because it affects the care of the patient and treatment of caregivers. -They try to be impartial and without judgment, but it's really hard for them when they become misinformed. Made a difficult more stressful. She went to other family members to change the DNR status. We were so happy to get out of the ICU and away from any further conversations with her. Felt maybe she thought we were unaware or uneducated or… maybe she wanted to impose what she thought was her correct judgment. -Ending life should be no one's decision but the patient's if they still have the ability to decide what they want in their future. Just be careful. She strategically went around to each family member trying to get someone to authorize a DNR and she negatively labeled people in her reports if they gave conflicting opinions to hers.
