Rebecca McCoy, MSNPMHNP-BC

Hi, my name is Rebecca, and I'm a Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner serving clients in South Dakota. I specialize in anxiety, ADHD, depression, bipolar disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder/trauma. I’ve been in nursing for 2 years and completed my master’s and psychiatric training at UNIVERSITY. I’m passionate about destigmatizing mental healthcare, and together with my colleagues at Lavender Psychiatry, I’m on a mission to create a world where feelings are felt, respected, and cared for.

My therapeutic style is characterized by warmth, engagement, and a genuine personal connection. I believe in establishing a strong, collaborative relationship with each client, where we work together to make informed decisions about their treatment. I chose to become a PMHNP because I have always felt a strong responsibility to serve individuals that may not otherwise have access to quality mental health care. Throughout my nursing career, I recognized significant gaps in services …for the underserved and vulnerable populations, and I knew I wanted to do more to help meet those needs. Advancing my role as a PMHNP has allowed me to provide more comprehensive, patient-centered care, and to be more directly involved in improving outcomes for those struggling with mental health conditions.

My practice is inclusive and welcoming, embracing diversity in culture, background, and experience. I have worked with a wide range of clients, including students, parents, professionals from various fields, skilled tradespeople, service industry workers, retail employees, entrepreneurs, artists, and technology experts. I am committed to providing a safe and supportive space where each individual feels heard, understood, and empowered to achieve their therapeutic goals. Starting treatment can be a scary and intimidating process. I’ve successfully treated many people who are new to psychiatric care.
