Rebecca Sapien, MD

Dr. Rebecca Sapien is an emergency doctor at Emmanuel Hospital in Turlock. After admitting a family member, Sapien read off an incorrect diagnosis, blaming it on "someone giving her the wrong sheet." She was additionally unable to answer any of my questions, responding to all my inquiries with generic non-answers. She failed to even know what medication was given to the patient, and did not give any recommendations as to how the patient could avoid future episodes. To top off her incredible lack of intelligence, she has an EXTREMELY rude vibe, and CLEARLY does not care about any patient. I never review doctors but the fact that this experience made me take the time out of my day to specifically give her a negative review to warn others about her speaks volumes. I have no idea how she got her medical license and how she hasn't been fired.

Keep an eye on your medical records with this one. She's really nice, seems to listen, and will order basic labs and/or refer you to a specialist, but don't count on her to spend any time playing detective and watch out for the accuracy of your medical chart. I went in with noticeably swollen axillary lymph nodes, hair loss, severe fatigue, and abdominal pain.... she sent me for a mammogram and lab work... and that was that. I had to call for all the results... which a MA gave me. At some point, I decided to get copies of my medical file and discovered that none of the symptoms I went to see her for were mentioned in my chart. The visit was listed as a routine check up with a referral for a routine mammogram, and routine labs. The most shocking part was that she said I had "numerous" complaints, which she categorized as a somatoform issue! I was shocked. Furthermore, she said my blood work came back as "normal", even though my iron level was at an extremely low level of 20 on a… "normal" scale of 17-200. Geez.... I guess my hair loss and severe fatigue was all in my imagination since I apparently suffer from a somatoform (mental) issue! BTW - my hair and fatigue problem is much better since I began taking an Iron supplement (thanks to the suggestion of my dermatologist)....
