Dr. Rebecca Marie Zarko, MD

Was referred to this psychiatrist by my son's clinical counselor who sent a referral with lots of information for her to review. She obviously didn't read anything because the first thing she asked is why we were there to see her. She spent little time with me, over 45 min with my son, and when we were supposed to have our time ahe rushed through the rest of the appointment because she was running over in time. She dismissed the diagnosis by my son's clinical counselor and pediatrician who has been practicing for 40years. She asked me questions and would cut me off instead of letting my explain things thoroughly. She even at one point suggested my son's issues were a parenting issue and advised she could refer us to a program similar to the "Super Nanny" tv show, in short suggesting I needed someone to come in and teach me how to parent my simply "defiant" child. Had she even bothered to read up on my son she would have known she was dismissing the clinical counselor's assessment,… my pediatrician who came up with the same diagnosis as the clinical counselor, as well as the Developmental Pediateics department at Children's Hospital of Akron! I plan to file a formal complaint with the Ohio State Medical Board as well as the facility in Wooster she works for. Total waste of 2+ hours with no help!

Do not subject your self or your loved one to this person. She speaks over you and interrupts you. Is very abrasive and rude. Does not care what you have to say and must assert herself as the smartest person in the room. If I could give negative stars I would she was that harsh.

Dr. Zarko is not a doctor I would recommend. She is rude, she interrupts and does not listen. Her interaction with me and my family was so unpleasant, we will not be going back. Please, do your research and consider a different doctor. Zarko is well known for an unpleasant bedside manor, to say the least.

Her staff is excellent! I only wish I could say the same about the Dr. herself! The specialists that she requires to work with your family: case managers, home therapists etc are fantastic and report back to the Dr. as they are required. I truly feel that as a parent you know your child better than anyone, even someone who sits behind the desk with a college degree. When the specialists Dr. Zarko assigns to your family, reports back with the SAME information and concerns that the parents are saying, also MANY medical information notes, and she then does not listen or take action... THAT IS A PROBLEM! As a parent you seek out help from these types of services for a reason. Do yourself and your a child a favor, drive a little farther to find a child psychiatrist who wants to help your child and your family!! I would never recommend this Dr. to anyone.
