Summary
My Specialty and Why I Chose It
I practice Emergency Medicine, which means that I am trained to treat acute illness and injury in the Emergency Department. I went into this field after a personal experience with emergency care at the age of twenty. I realized at that time how terrifying an experience being a patient in the emergency room can be. There was action all around me, yet I felt scared, isolated, and in pain. I realized what a difference caring and compassionate staff can make for a patient who is at his or her most vulnerable. Since that experience, I have made it my goal not only to provide an outstanding level of care to my patients, but to bring them comfort, as well.
My Practice Philosophy
I treat each patient as an individual, taking time to listen his or her concerns. I work hard to communicate with family members and loved ones throughout the patient-care process. My practice philosophy is to treat each patient as I would want myself or my family to be treated. I try …to keep my patients’ best interests in mind and use evidence-based medicine to guide my practice.
Why I Like Practicing Medicine at Kaiser Permanente
I’ve been with Kaiser Permanente since 2006. I joined the group immediately after residency because I knew that I wanted to practice medicine in an environment free from the constraints of large insurance companies. I appreciate the network of outstanding consultants, the ease of arranging follow-up appointments, and the focus on preventative medicine. At Kaiser, I have the opportunity to work within a system of healthcare that I truly believe in, and can be certain that my patients are getting the best possible care.
On a Personal Note…
I grew up in Ithaca, NY in an academic family. I did my undergraduate work at Stanford, majoring in Biological Sciences. I went to medical school at U.C. San Diego, where I met my wonderful husband, Jeff. In 2003, we moved to Sacramento where I completed my residency in Emergency Medicine at U.C. Davis Medical Center. Immediately after residency, I was fortunate enough to accept a position as a staff physician with Kaiser Permanente, and have been here ever since.
When I’m not at the hospital, you might find me walking, jogging, hiking, camping, gardening, cooking, or baking.

Ensuring Data Transparency and Trust: A Guide to Vitals Doctor Listings and Reviews
Our provider data is gathered directly from physicians and publicly available databases. Providers who verify their profiles gain the ability to update information, offering additional details about their specialties, education, treated conditions, performed procedures, and accepted insurances.
Reviews on Vitals are submitted by users only. Recognizing the valuable insights these reviews offer into a doctor's reputation, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Importantly, providers cannot delete or alter reviews independently. Reviews can only be deleted or changed following an internal assessment by our customer service team.
Your feedback is highly valued and we encourage you to contact our support team should you encounter any issues.
