Dr. Reena S Mehta, MD

I was referred to Dr. Mehta by a friend. I will forever be grateful for that. She is the most caring, kind hearted, compassionate, friendly, knowledgeable, skilled doctor that I have even been seen by. My allergies and asthma have been so bad that I could barely function. I have been put on so many meds and they have helped very little. I was tired and about ready to just give up and live a miserable life. I felt like I was staying alive by using an inhaler. I had previously had a patch test, a blood test and the entire works a few years back and thought it was correct. Well, guess what? I wasn't diagnosed correctly and had no idea that I had my head stuffed in a feather pillow at night that I was ALLERGIC to all these years until Dr. Mehta found out within a 2 hour span. This fantastic doctor did allergy tests right there on the spot and sat with me for almost 2 hours asking me questions while typing on her computer so she could decide on a plan of action to helping me have a… healthier lifestyle. She knew more about my problems and lifestyle within that 2 hours than probably a total of 3 other doctors I have seen previously seen over a period of 4 years. So, to fast forward a few days after seeing Dr. Mehta, I already feel better than I have felt in years!! She told me she will not give up on me and she will make certain I get the right treatment. I 100% believe her. I just can't stress enough how AWESOME this doctor is. She spends as much time with you as she deems necessary. Her personality is just as great as her service too! She is just so caring and has so much compassion for her patients. I am just so thankful to have found her. My life is changing for the better. Therefore, take this review to heart and do not hesitate to make an appointment with her. I do not write reviews often on anyone or anything but this Doctor deserves great reviews. I sought out Dr Mehta for allergy testing this spring, and I'm so glad I did. I had been told since childhood that I had allergies to two fairly common medicines, and I wanted to know whether these assumptions were still true (I'm now in my early 30s). Thanks to Dr. Mehta, I have definitive proof that I have grown out of both allergies and can safely take these medications. Everything about the experience was excellent - from my first call to Uptown Allergy & Asthma's office to the actual appointment for testing. Dr Mehta and her staff are approachable, thorough, and professional - returning calls, answering questions, and guiding me through the process from beginning to end. One of the allergy tests we had to run was fairly rare, and Dr Mehta went above and beyond, looking up the procedures and even interfacing with the pharmacy so that I could get the answers I needed. Dr Mehta herself is incredibly personable, intelligent, and kind - wonderful to talk to, reassuring, and… thorough. I told her I wished she was a GP - I'd pick her for my primary care physician in an instant if I could! In summary, my experience at Uptown Allergy & Asthma has been one of the most positive medical experiences I've had in New Orleans to date, and I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr Mehta and her staff to anyone and everyone.
