Dr. Regina Margarita Zambrano, MD

I was told I’d be in great hands with her and I was expecting her to help me finally get answers and helpful treatments. But she was awful. She constantly contradicted herself, changed her mind, and talked in circles. She is supposed to be an expert but she makes it sound like she doesn’t know what she’s talking about and she can’t even make up her mind on what she believes to be right. She’s also patronizing and extremely invalidating. She didn’t even do the few things she said she was gonna do to help me, and she doesn’t want to see me or talk to me again so I can’t ask her why she didn’t do what she said she would. She loved a paper I brought in and wanted to make copies of it to use with all her patients; so I can honestly say that I actually helped her more than she helped me.

Physician displayed no respect for us as parents of a critically ill child. Physician offered no encouragement whatsoever and displayed no compassion or empathy. She failed to recognize that as a parent we love our child and have to take care of our child for the rest of his/her or our life, whichever comes first. How are parents supposed to provide loving care when a physician offers them no reason for hope and challenges them to prove her wrong? I found her comments, conduct and demeanor offensive. She knew little about the condition, did little research in preparation for our visit and had reached out to no experts in the field. She did not listen to me and in the process made recommendations for interventions that were both untimely and inappropriate, as confirmed by experts in the field. Furthermore she was careless with dissemination of our private health information causing humiliation to multiple members of our family. I believe that all children and families deserve more… respect and better treatment than she provided us. I do not trust her, regret having been referred to her for care, have no desire seeing her again and am thankful that it is not necessary to interact in the future. I apologize in advance for being crude but I trust this woman about as far as I can spit a brick. No bedside manner, she displayed no respect for us as feeling human beings and parents of a sick child. Our child is obviously well cared for and her exclamation “oh somebody needs a diaper change” upon discovering a blue streak set the tone for the remainder of the visit, which could not end soon enough for me. Babies wet diapers. That’s what they do. During the rest of the visit she was dismissive of us and our child. She wrote us off. She either did not hear my concerns or was not listening and offered inappropriate or uninformed solutions as a result. She did little research in preparation for our visit, was less informed than me, and had reached out to no experts in the field. She offered no useful professional support to us. I was seething with anger after that visit and watched her walk by moments later in the parking lot, without noticing me, as if it was just any other day, which clearly it was. We ultimately took solace in the belief that we would never have to see her again then two and a half months later, we unexpected received an envelope from the Genetics office addressed “to the family of” our son which contained her medical notes addressed to our pediatrician. Her notes read like a tabloid disclosing personal and confidential health information that should not have left the room during our visit, was in no way medically necessary nor informed his treatment of our child, violated the privacy of several of our family members, was sent without authorization or request for release by us, via unsecure regular mail. Furthermore, she treated our personal health information as if it were “show and tell” indicating to the pediatrician that she could provide a copy of our genetic family history if he wanted to see it. With one humiliating exception, she provided him with no new information. I left a phone message for her at the office but received no response.
