Dr. Rena Beth Dearment, MD

Not sure what all these bad reviews are about but she is the third endo I have seen now and she's the only one I like. I see her for hashimoto's hypothyroidism. She is always nice and more thorough than the other two I have seen. She runs more than just TSH, which is uncommon with endo's now. She doesn't just say "you're in range so your fine". She listens and will tweet dosage based on how you feel. Office staff is great and they are very prompt. I don't sit in the room waiting for more than 5-10 minutes.

I absolutely urge people to see another doctor. Many years ago she had a meltdown after I asked her some questions about tests, specifically how she came to a certain conclusion. The answer was I AM AN ENDOCRINOLOGIST!!!!! and she began ranting about people using the internet and that I was obviously drug seeking. She was visibly not well that day but I didn't expect that. I'd like to say it came to nothing but I've been treated poorly in just about every doctor's office I've been visited since then, starting with her. I'll always wonder if she was involved somehow. Not a good thing to deal with when you're already sick but please, be aware. Best to avoid problem doctors.

Do not expect Dr. DeArment to treat you by the way you feel, only by what the numbers say regardless if in the normal range. Do, however, expect text book responses to all concerns without caring about the way you feel. Do not request any type of lab work that you feel is warranted to treat your condition if outside her typical orders. I would not recommend her as an endocrinologist whatsoever.

I have been a patient for the doctor for over ten years. I have never known her to be anything other than caring, helpful and open. Any questions I asked, she has happily and thoughtfully answered. I require special documentation for my employer which her and her staff have always made every effort to comply with. I recommend her to anybody seeking and Endocrinologist.

Doctor is very good and shows concern for the patient. Staff is slow in carrying out needed tasks/followup and not infrequently needs to be reminded.
