Dr. Rena Marie Johnson, MD

I initially sought out a black provider hoping that they would take my concerns regarding my health seriously. Big mistake! This review is for black women who are looking for providers in their demographic, I do not want you to experience the treatment that I received. I was in need of a primary care physician due to a relocation, I also have some symptoms that I am concerned about. I had to demand blood tests to see how my organs were functioning, because Dr. Johnson wanted me to soley focus on diet (as if both could not be done simultaneously). Once my labs were in, she dismissed all of the tests that came back abnormal by saying "they don't mean anything". She could not/refused speak to what the tests meant or how my organs were functioning. Some of the tests were way out of range and she refused to discuss it. Then she said that's all I have and ended the visit. She gave me all of 3 minutes of her time knowing how concerned I was and after making me wait in the room for her for… over 15 minutes. As you can imagine, this was extremely stressful not knowing what's going on internally and how to rectify it after running multiple labs. Later on that day, she had her office manager call me to offer another provider in their practice! Please know that every interaction has been respectful, I have never had a doctor be so dismissive! The office manager mentioned that Dr. Johnson said that because I wasn't satisfied I should see someone else for a second opinion. I believe it is baseline to be able to speak to the labs you've ordered. Not to mention, some of her notes on my chart were for other patients and she ordered a mammogram when I had one already. I pay a lot for my benefit package, and to jump from doctor to doctor retelling my history and concerns, letting them draw blood and waiting for test results traumatizing. If I were not a black woman I would've gotten a different level of service. Black women face a tremendous amount of medical racism, even from our own group. I will go to another provider outside of this practice, one that cares about their patients no matter what race or gender they are!

Just about as bad as you can get. No help whatsoever. I’m not quite sure how people can operate like this!

This doctor walked in the room. Told me what I needed to do. Didn't check any of my symptoms. Had her mind made up the moment she walked in. Got her to check my one ear. She says my ear is fine just some fluid. I said that's impossible I was here yesterday and the doctor said it was still infected. She then goes backwards and says well it is a little still. I went in there for chest pains and severe reaction to medication prenisome. Gave me a diagnosis that no past history supports. Horrible horrible horrible doctor. I'd give more details but I'm not disclosing personal info for the world on the internet. Just know you DO NOT want this doctor. Hired in 2017 and is already leaving Patient First. 2 yrs and she leaving. Wonder why... Taking my complaints to the highest levels possible. A doctor like this should not be practicing on people.
