Dr. Renee Ruth Lamm, MD

I moved from out of state and was referred to her office for psychiatry and managing bipolar by my pcp. I did not know at the time that they were addiction specialist. I scheduled an appointment a month and a half in advance, and had my previous psychiatrist send the details of my medical history at the time that they scheduled the appointment. Dr. Renee Lamms office reported that they never received the documents and despite the offer to have my previous psychiatrist call and speak with them, they declined. I called my previous psych and they sent the records within 3 days of the request. During the appointment, they immediately tried to change the medications I was on, despite having taken them for years. When making a change like that, your doctor should be readily available. They were not. It would take 3-4 days to get a call back. Prescriptions can only be renewed Mon-Thursday 8am to 4pm through a voicemail machine, and they won't send in multiple refills to the pharmacy. This… means that if there is a 3 day weekend, it can take 5 days to get a medication refill and there will be a lapse in taking the medication. When I had a bad reaction to the medication changes, no one was available to help. You cannot treat someone who is taking medication to stay sane like someone who needs to get sober. Their failure to understand this is tantamount to medical negligence.

I have been seeing Dr Lamm for years and now not as often. She is the best, very knowledgeable, listens and is so worth any wait. On my first appointment so many years again I could not believe the wait but honestly I am so happy I waited. Very knowledgeable

Dr. Lamm is a little different than most doctors. Most are on strict schedule, when the time is up. They get up and show you to the door. Dr. Lamm talks to her patients and cares about her patients. She's casual, informal, friendly and wicked smart and really knows her stuff. She conveys information in an easy to understand format and is very helpful. I would highly, highly, highly recommend her to anyone. Her only drawback is because she cares about her patients, she tends to talk to them too much and her calendar gets backlogged. I don't mind waiting a few extra minutes to talk to such a wonderful doctor.

While the doctor is knowledgeable and helpful, the office staff seems to be poorly trained and very disorganized. They were especially confused by the challenge of handling insurance forms and filing them correctly. There also appears to be a breakdown in communication between the separate office staff members, which I believe contributes to the unprofessional manner in which patients are treated. Not impressive.

Great doctor. Will call you back if you call after hours. Great personality.

I trust Dr. Lamm with my life. The waiting time to see her is long but she is worth it !!!
