Renee Wiruth is a family nurse practitioner who welcomes every type of family by providing inclusive care for every person’s lifestyle.

“I understand how challenging it can be to find a care provider who is understanding and accepting of non-traditional or alternative lifestyles,” she said. “I am happy to accept patients from various backgrounds, empowering them to ask questions and find answers regarding any health concern.”

She views her patients as partners in working toward health goals.

“I like to hear the patient’s perception of his, her or their health concerns and work together on a plan to achieve well-being,” Wiruth said.

Wiruth has not always been a health care provider. She started out in land development, but after the real estate boom had the opportunity to go back to school. The care she and her family received from nurses, along with her interest in science and biology, inspired her to choose medicine as her career path.

“A career in health care involves a mix of …science and relationship building that appealed to me,” she said. “Next, after having worked in a hospital setting for many years, I decided it was time for a change. I wanted to help patients avoid acute health situations. Working as a family nurse practitioner in primary care is the best place for me to do this.”

Wiruth was born and raised in Tucson, but also lived in Phoenix. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing at Northern Arizona University and her doctorate at the University of Arizona.

She came back to Tucson to be close to family, but stayed because of the city’s charm, great weather and unbeatable sunsets. When she is not working, she enjoys outdoor activities such as gardening, swimming and spending time with her dogs.
