Dr. Rex Albert Adams, MD

Worst experience with treatment rendered, I moved to Reno from California and was treated for RA by Dr. Adams I wasn’t comfortable from the beginning because I could see that he kind of disregarded my concerns or comments but I realized that trying to get an appointment with another specialist in this town was going to be an ordeal. I was given infusion treatment and immediately after my first dose I brought to his attention that I was feeling an abnormal reaction, he disregarded my concerns by stating that my reaction wasn’t related to the treatment given, two more treatments were given after my initial concerns and right after that I had a full blown reaction that send me to the urgent care because he was so booked that I couldn’t be seen by him!?? I had to go back to California to see my Rheumatologist there, was seen by an allergist and finally a dermatologist. Subsequently I had a biopsy and numerous medications to deal with the reaction the infusion medication had created. Weeks… after I came back from CA and I was feeling better, not looking better because I had scars from the rash all over my body, I called Adams office to relate to them what I had gone through, Amy the receptionist never offered to give me an appointment to be seen by the doctor. Few weeks later I got a letter from them dismissing me as their patient but I wasn’t hurt by their decision because I had decided myself by then not to let him be my care provider.

Wouldn’t recommend this Dr. to anybody . My husband and I moved to Reno six years ago, I been dealing with RA for over thirty years and needed a rheumatologist to care for my condition, I wasn’t really impressed by this doctor interaction with patient care or concerns. To shorten my story he put me on an infusion treatment, immediately after my first treatment I was getting some mild reaction which I discussed with him but he disregarded my concerns by stating that it wasn’t related to the treatment because it wasn’t reported as a side effects from the medication. Two more treatments were given after the initial dose which send me to the urgent care because he was so booked to see immediately, I flew to CA to see my rheumatologist there, was seen by an allergist and finally a dermatologist, I was taking a bunch of medications to counteract the reaction from the infusion and my body was covered with scars from the sores. I called their office to give them my details of my ordeal, was… refused to an appointment and subsequently was dismissed as a patient. This doctor has an ego issue, so I will suggest to him to listen to his patients concerns more closely.

I was given a low dose methotrexate with zero instructions, When I called to get some information on the medicine I was told by the office staff to Google the drug. I was having site effects and again told to google the information. Then was told very rudely about a site that had information on other meds used to treat my autoimmune disease. I then developed sores in odd places and was so sore I couldn't sit. When I called the office to ask if they had a cream or a recommend a product to put on the sores because they hurt so bad, I was told by Dr Adams to contact my OB>GYN I made the comment the sores came with the medication he said he didn't deal with sores and contact my gyn, Well my gyn does not prescribe methotrexate so he wouldn't be off any help. So I took it upon my self to contact a oncology office that said when ever they prescribe this prescription, they always recommend a cream to prevent sores and heal them if you develop them. They were shocked I was getting no… help or information from the very Dr giving me the meds. At my last apt he suggested I see a GI dr to make sure I don't have colitis or celiac disease and told me he had only treated a few people with my disease and had zero success and I would be deaf so that's life, I asked for a referral to a specialist to deals with my disease, He said no. So I called this specialist in LA and did a phone consult only to find out that I was on the wrong treatment and the complaints I had been having were to be expected with my eyes because there are two autoimmune diseases that run together. Eyes and Ears,, Called Cogans syndrome. Dr Adams just kept telling me the two had no relationship. I called to confirm my apt after the colonoscopy and after hours I received a call from I believe to be his wife, said as of that date they were terminating my care, because I had gotton a second opinion and that. So Not only do I feel he is rude and unethical , I feel he is unsafe for not researching my disease properly and the proper medication and knowing how hard it is to get into another Dr for him to terminate my care not only tells me he has a huge ego but He is not a good Dr. Luckly I work in the medical field and I can worn patients about his behavior.

I wrote this review in another physician grading so I will just copy and paste that....And I'm doing so because I believe people in need of care shouldn't miss out on finding a great doctor like I have with Dr. Adams....So here is that review....."I cannot say enough about Dr Adams, Amy, or Victor. I was truly blessed when my primary doctor referred me over to them. Amy and Victor should be the poster employees for what a doctors office should be like be; welcoming, thoughtful, helpful, and easy to talk to with a dash of sense of humors! Dr. Adams alone is a phenomenal doctor. No offense to my primary doctor but if I could magically make him my ONE AND ONLY doctor, I would in a heartbeat. He is amazingly knowledgeable and I feel truly cares about my well being. Dr. Adams is very thorough when it comes to ensuring possibilities of bettering my health, either by tests, questions, answers, facts...You name it. I truly can't thank Dr Adams, Amy, and Victor enough for being the kind of… doctors office I actually enjoy going to, especially with my illness. My hour drive into town is worth the gas money!! I HIGHLY recommend them!! You won't be disappointed at all. I guarantee it!"

Great Dr. and the office is terrific. Amy at the front desk is always, happy, friendly and very nice. Victor is great to deal with, always helpful, always nice. Dr. Adams always takes the time and has a great bedside manner. Never feel rushed like he has to get to another patient. He always follows up with anything new going on. I feel so blessed to have Dr. Adams as my doctor.

Dr. Adams is one of the best Doctors I have encountered. I recomend him to everyone I know. I just warn everyone about Victor in the office. He is abrupt and rude. Amy is very nice but could use some brushing up on people skills if caught on a busy day.

Best Dr I've ever seen & I've seen alot!He's worth what ever you have to do to go see him.He really cares about his patients it's not about the money or politics with him.
