Dr. Rex Darrel Poole, MD

My families experience with Dr. Poole, today, was less than desired. He was very arrogant and had poor beside manners. While in the ER with my mother, he was quick to diagnose her with a stomach virus and chose not to consider the need to rule out any other potential reasons for her illness. While she did have two of the primary symptoms of someone with a stomach virus, she has several other underlying conditions and health factors, that could contribute the these two symptoms. Because of my mother's compromised immune system, even simple things such as a stomach virus, can be life threatening. He dismissed my concerns regarding her incoherence and ability to keep her eyes open and respond to me. His explanation was that it was the medication he gave her, but this is not the case - since this was the reason she was taken to the ER to begin with. While vomiting and diarrhea were to of her acute symptoms, she was only brought to the ER, when she began to become incoherent and so weak… that she was not able to communicate effectively. Dr. Poole spoke to me, like I was a third class citizen and failed to even review her labs with me. He was quick to say, everything was normal. The saddest part was, when questioned about the link between a stomach virus and her incoherence, he was quick to say that she was talking just fine when she got there. He even offered examples of things they spoke about. Later for me to find out, that those are conversations that he had with my sister who checked her into the ER, not with my mom. In fact, I was called to the hospital, only when my sister was not able to answer questions regarding my moms health, knowing that my mom was not able to respond for herself. I'm very disappointed, to say the least.
