Dr. Reza Alex Gamagami, MD

I was very nervous about my upcoming surgery. Within 20 seconds of speaking with Dr. Gamagami, I felt very at ease and had much more confidence going into surgery. I have anxiety, especially when it comes to medical things. Dr. Gamagami is extremely personable, witty and caring. He took all the time I needed to answer questions and address my concerns. I VERY HIGHLY recommend Dr. Gamagami.

The moment Dr. Gamagami entered the examination room I knew this was the place to be. He displayed a bit of wit along with substantial confidence that he could properly correct my issue. After imaging, it was determined that the hernia recurred (prior surgeon's work) and mesh support failed . I was disappointed to hear that as I remember the pain was substantial and the recovery period was long. Dr. assured me this time would be better as he would use a robotic surgical method. Research and Dr. G's videos showed this amazing process. I was pleased to see Dr Gamagami has performed 3500 robotic surgeries. As a retired airline Capt., I highly respect his adapting to new technology as I was one of the first to fly digital airliners in 1989. Surgery went well. In four hours I was standing and getting dressed to go home. I was actually walking with no pain! The following ten days I had just a small ache and tightness with no pain. As a highly trained pro myself, I give Dr. and staff an A+.

Dr. Gamagami did a phenomenal job handling all of my problems. I felt like the process was explained clearly to me and I could not be happier with the results of my surgery. He is a great medical doctor in addition to being a great surgeon! The staff are friendly, helpful and timely in their responses to questions. I have been extremely pleased with my care when meeting with the Physician Assistants as well!

Dr. Gamagami repaired my hernia via incision rather than by laproscopy after explaining that a previous surgery may have left scar tissue which could interfere with the hernia surgery. All went so well that 36 hours later I ended up driving my wife to Silver Cross due to pancreatitis (not planned). Dr Gamagami removed her gall bladder the following week after doing tests and explaining everything step by step. I have since gone back to him for other procedures. My wife and I could not be happier with him and his staff. We highly recommend him.

Needed colostomy and then eventually hernia repair. He is very thorough, takes his time and makes you feel comfortable with him. Even the nurses rave about him and THAT'S saying something. I would go to him in a heartbeat for surgery, although I hope it won't be necessary. He's one in a million and I hope he stays at Silver Cross for a long, long time as we really need someone like him. Appointments can be hard to get sometimes because he's so busy, but that's because he's so good and well worth the wait.
