Dr. Rhoda Fay Leichter, MD

Doctor Leichter is lacking bedside manners and has no regards for anyone else’s time other than her own. The GOOD: Office staff is nice. The BAD: Doctor has no bedside manners and no regards for anyone else’s time other than her own. First appointment: After waiting 30 minutes to see Dr. Leichter stated” I did not have an appointment and that she saw me as a courtesy.” I stated I made the appointment 3 weeks ago. Dr. Stated she was going to lunch come back another time. I asked who made the wrong appointment she stated” I don’t know probably the janitor” Came back two weeks later once again waited 30 minutes to be seen for pre-op to have veins in leg fixed. Surgery - Very painful procedure, the doctor rambled on with the nurse about her child’s travels without once asking how I was doing, when I interrupted I was rudely responded to with one-word answers and told to stay still, going back to her endless rambling with the technician/nurse Post-up Was in very bad pain, came… to have the blood left in the voided veins removed. Took severely days to get an appointment. I requested she use Marcaine before sticking large needles to remove the old blood left in veins that were causing pain very close to the bone on my ankle. Was told she does not like to use Marcaine and it does not hurt that much. After the first needle and my screaming in pain Marcaine was used. Follow- up: The doctor missed many of the smaller veins, I came back for additional treatment. After waiting 55 minutes with an early morning appointment I walked out. Finding another doctor. Update: All veins came back worse than I started with a few months later. I went to another doctor who said Dr. Leichter did not do a good job and need to have everything redone. Nowhere near the amount of pain with the new doctor that Dr. Leichter caused me.

When you look at the ability and successes of Dr. Leichter, she is way beyond just a small bump on an ankle. Regardless she treated me as if I were her most needed patient. She listened, she followed up, she advised. And her staff was point on from my initial call for an appointment to a request for records being forwarded to my prime doctor. Excelent care!

She is so rude

Dr. Leichter has performed six procedures on me. That I am writing this review is a testament to both her skill and her dedication. One of the procedures was a marathon to correct a vascular emergency that should have been, and very nearly was, fatal. You tend to have a high opinion of someone who quite literally saved your life. She did it for me TWICE! That's right, two life-threatening vascular emergencies, and she saved me both times! Is it any wonder that my entire family believes that the sun rises on her East shoulder and sets on her West? I hope that you never need her services, but if you do, it would be difficult to find better. The staff at University Vascular are efficient and courteous. Sometimes you need to wait a few minutes, as the office works in emergency patients. Th trade-off is that when you are the emergency, the other patients understand. In the end, it all evens out. Over the past ten years I have required 18 vascular procedures, many performed at UCLA by some… of their best, including Peter Lawrence and Sam Ahn. Given the choice, I'd go with Dr. Leichter any day of the week.
