Dr. Richa Uppal, MD

I went to Dr. Uppal for heart rhythm problems and she dismissed my concern and told me it was anxiety. I know what anxiety is and have experienced it before, and this was not it. I am the happiest I've been, ever. She did not listen to me and proceeded to write in my chart that I was possibly having panic attacks and not stable. This is the most dangerous kind of doctor for a woman - or anyone for that matter. Someone that dismisses your health concerns and blames them on mental heath without even knowing you as a person. I tried to follow up with her regarding this and she said it was her medical opinion and she would not change it (it's now in my medical records and will influence how other doctors see me). She is a horrible doctor.

I’ve seen Dr. Uppal for the past 5 years and she is the most professional, kind, and friendly doctor I’ve had. She listens intently and evidently takes amazing notes because she “remembers” the important details. Just shows you how well prepared she is before each visit. She is caring and patient. I truly feel well-cared for by her and her staff. I am lucky to have her in my network of physicians.

I made Dr Uppal my primary care doc after my original primary doc retired, he was wonderful. I thought she might have a progressive take on health and I liked having a female doctor. She turned out to be the worst old-school God Complex type of doctor there is. She was always late, and seemed extremely intolerant of any kind of contrary feedback. She is also very controlling, and literally appears to enjoy having control over others, and lectures. One day Dr Uppal arbitrarily refused to refill a prescription for my migraine medication, citing that it was not healthful for me. This is in the middle of a cluster of debilitating migraines I was experiencing. I went in to the clinic to see the on-call staff, a walk-in physician immediately stepped in and prescribed them, seeing no contra-indications to do so, and was surprised that Dr Uppal had not. She then escorted me out of the patient area, so that I wouldn't encounter Dr Uppal? I'm guessing this happens to others? Dr Uppal's patient… care behavior seriously needs to be reviewed.

Diagnosed a stomach infection as a Gallbladder problem, resulting in an unnecessary and expensive Gallbladder surgery. Unwilling to take any responsibility for cost.

Condescending, non-responsive - didn't even sit down in the 5 minutes she spent with me as a new patient. Doesn't follow up with messages or prescription refills. Treats you as an idiot with no opinions about your own health. Avoid.

Dr. Uppal was very caring and spent time with me. She had good bedside manners and made an accurate diagnosis. I think this was the best doctor visit I ever had. I will be recommending her to family and friends.
