Dr. Richard Anthony Aballay, MD

I went into the Irrigon Medical Clinic to have a routine physical examination. After going through my health history, Dr. Aballay gave me "two options" - a traditional routine of medication for something I have a chronic condition for, or the expensive holistic option that he kept pushing, despite knowing that my insurance won't cover it and that I cannot afford it. He then used a bunch of fear tactics to try to sway me. Aballay first suggested that I was at high risk of breast cancer using statistics that I know are iffy at best. He then went on to claim that because of my dental work, I was being poisoned and would slowly see my health deteriorate until I ended up with MS or Lupus. This is fake science and there is no hard evidence to back his claims. After this talk, he kept pushing me to take expensive blood work that I have no desire to do. Similarly, my father goes to him and also said he was pressured to take expensive blood work after I told him about my experience. Despite his… insistence of "I'm not doing this for the money," I'm wondering if he has any business with the lab he prefers. I would suggest that patients look elsewhere and I hope that someone looks into this guy and his choice of treatments.

I saw Dr. Aballay after having seen a pain managment doctor for years, upon moving I was forced to find a pain clinic. I saw the website and decided to try the Murphreesboro TN clinic where is is now at. The first couple of visits were okay. I don't mind all of the rules and tests, I don't mind background checks and all. I have nothing to hide. My trouble started with getting sick and going to a primary care doctor which gave me a cough suppressant. I called and told Dr. A ally about this and it was approved. The next visit I went to I was promptly ask to sign a doctor shopping paper which I refused to sign. I was then accused of going against my agreement with them until I tell them I had called and the medication was approved per the pneumonia I had and it was approved by no other than Dr. Aballay himself. After this and waiting three more hours to be seen. I go back and I have to seen one more person they called a counselor. This person interrogated me and tried to get me to admit… to not taking my medications appropriately. I asked why they would ask me this? He says I had one medication in my body but my urine wasn't showing the other one. I said there is no way that could be possible because my husband watches me take my medication and I had never failed a urine screen test. I was very confident that there was no way this could happen. My brother is a doctor., I call him and he tells me the reason they both wouldn't show up is because they are both the same family drug. It doesn't single out each medication. Only its parent drug part being opiate or opioid, benzo etc. The doctor himself yelled at me for ten full minutes threatening me for absolutely no reason at all but a test the this group couldn't even read sufficiently and all of this began over my being honest and informing him of a cough medication I had received from my general practitioner. It was such a joke that I never went back. I will not give my money to a doctor that will sit in front of me and treat me like I'm a common criminal when in all reality I am so far from that. I was also accused of drinking alchohol and I admitted to attending a wedding and having one glass of champagne the day before. I am not a drinker and have never drank more than one drink a year in my entire life. Please do not give these people your money. He wants to get people in there to pay the big money and then to keep his clinic going he has to eventually get rid of patients. He doesn't want to give the medications to patients for very long. He even told me he was suppose to reduce your amount of medication per month and if he changes it he is to reduce it by a certain percentage each change. When you have a really bad experience with back pain or any type pain, your answer lyes with a doctor. Your at their mercy. It's so said that people are treated like they are addicts. I just wanted a better quality of life. To be able to walk for fitnes, play in the yard with my dog, cook dinner without having to bed over the counter in tears because the pain in my lower back is unbelievable. Go to a real clinic that isn't quack related. I am now going to a real pain managment doctor and I am recieving great care by a team that cares and doesn't accuse. I recieve injections that help and have changed my functionality. I recieve proper medication and I have never failed a test or had one problem. Take my advise and stay far far away from this clinic.

I will tell you right now that this is the absolute worst pain management doctor there is. Before some of y'all start to judge me, know that I walked in with MRI reports, CAT scans, over 10 years of records from several different doctors and worst of all, hope. My appointment was at 9 a.m. and I wasn't seen until 5. For a person in chronic pain, this is torture. I saved up for 3 mths to see this doctor, was so hopeful bc of the way his secretary praised him. There was only 2 people in front of me and they had to wait that long as well. I walked into his office with a good attitude, didnt say a word about waiting, and walked out almost in tears. I told him repeatedly that I absolutely could not afford these new meds he was writing out and he didn't seem to care. He wanted more MRIs and Xrays when I already had the ones showing proof of what was wrong. I couldn't get it through his head how dang poor I am! He talked bad about the other doctors I had went to....I could go on, but… just know it was probably the worst and most humiliating doctor visit I've ever had. He's at Hope Pain Center now and all they care about is that first visit bc it's the most expensive. Don't go by their website bc it's just made to sucker 1st time patients in. After they get that first time fee, you can't get it back and then you have to see this quack who has literally no idea what he's talking about bc he jumps from field to field. Any doctor that charges as much as him, makes his patients wait 6 to 7 hours only to be treated like a liar, crackhead and to be totally humilated should NOT be a pain management dr IMO. I could've just flushed that $400 and been better off, at least I wouldn't be in pain from waiting and now depressed even more from being made fun of. Please please PLEASE do some research on this guy before seeing him and don't go by that Hope Center website bc it doesn't mean diddly squat. They just use that to sucker people in for that first visit and the minute you walk through that door, you're treated like a junkie, even if you're not on or asking for narcotics. I've lost all hope now bc I've gave them all my money and was treated like dirt. Praying for everyone that's in my shoes and just looking for a compassionate doctor who understands that everyone going to pain management clinics are not ALL just looking for narcotics and that's it.

Please, do your due diligence on this doctor. My very first time seeing this physician he made rude comments that made me cry when I left the office. Not only that, but he cancelled my appointment several times. I wish I had researched this doctor before seeing him. If I had, I would never had seen him in the first place. Multiple complaints by people who have seen him. I urge you to not see this physician. There are more talented physicians if you are looking for someone in alternative health.

Dr. Aballay's expertise is just what I was looking for. I knew I needed an MD with more than the traditional Western Medicine approach in order to recover from fibromyalgia. His knowledge of nutrition and alternative therapies have been incalculable. I'd say I'm 99% recovered and I couldn't have done it without him. I think he's a real treasure.

Dr. Aballay put me on a supplement that was essentially poison to my system because of my particular health issue. As a physician he should have known this. After being a patient of his well over a year and after thousands of dollars in doctors fees, lab tests and unneeded supplements that overloaded my already weak system, I finally realized that he has no idea what he is doing and is essentially shooting in the dark. If you see him get ready to spend a lot of money and take a lot of supplements that you don't need because that is how he makes his money. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this incompetent charlatan.
