Dr. Richard Edwin Akers JR., MD

Definitely one of the more interesting interactions I have had with a doctor, and yes I am giving him 5 stars. The bluntness, brusque attitude I really appreciated, (though it was shocking, as I was concerned about myself, but I felt I had the right to be, and since I am not a doctor I went to one for answers) it is needed more in this world. I just felt like I interrupted a heart surgery 3 doors down lol. I do apologize for any disrupt in your day, but yeah, helped me with my situation.

As someone who has had many issues with their eyes, Dr. Akers was by far one of the worst ophthalmologists I have ever seen. Zero bedside manner, took absolutely no time to explain anything. When he would ask me a question about my medical history, he would immediately begin talking over my answer. His exam was rough and very uncomfortable. I will not be going back to see him.

I called the doctor as an emergency. He was pompous and told me he wished I would have called him an hour earlier and reluctant to see me. I was polite and said thank you but he just hung up on me He was the the doctor on call so I don't know what else to do but I would not recommend him. I found someone else instead.

Very professional, friendly office

The staff was very courteous and friendly upon my arrival. My wait was not long compared to many other doctors offices. Dr. Akers was very knowledgable and diagnosed my problem right away. I did not feel as if I had wasted an entire afternoon in the doctors office. Thank you Dr. Akers!

I couldn't be happier with Dr. Akers. I have been seeing him for years and I would never go to another ophthalmologist. He makes himself available for his patients. He's confident and straight-forward, which is great! He was also very compassionate and eased my fears when I had to go in for surgery. Four stars all the way!!!!

I would not recommend this doctor to anyone!! He was not very friendly or courteous... I was given a prescription for eye glasses but he didn't even recommend that I use the facility there to fill the prescription... He was rude and very impatient to my son... At the end of the appointment he just said thank you for coming very coldly... There is also a dog in the office that seems to be apart of the staff... When it came time for me to pay the bill even though I had sufficient insurance I ended up paying for the visit instead of the co-pay... But mind you the whole time I was in the back I didn't hear anyone paying more than 75.00... This doctor's visit actually ruined the remainder of my day!!! But if you don't mind being treated less than mediocre; then this is the doctor for you...

Dr. Akers was very kind and easy to talk to. I would recommend him to anyone I care about.

Dr. Akers deserves to have his license revoked. As a medical professional I expect some level of respect. Dr. Akers was extremely unprofessional and uncooperative in dealing with Tricare and military patients. I would not recommend him to anyone and will never again refer a patient to him.
