I was very satisfied by the care I received from Dr. Blum

Not only was he incompetent, but he blamed ME for his incompetence, and expressed doubt that the hospital he works at would have the equipment needed to render an accurate diagnosis... then he stormed out. The nurse and the resident were embarrassed. Appalling.

I felt very strange after the visit and never went back. I did not care for the way he examines patients I have never experienced before and his comments are out of line. There are plenty of other choices.

I had an awful experience with Dr. Blum. I was 8 weeks pregnant and started spotting and cramping. I called his office and was actually able to speak with Dr. Blum. When I explained my symptoms, he said that I was most likely having a miscarriage. That's all he said. There was a pause, then I asked, "should I come in for an exam?" His reply: "you can if you want." That should have been a big red flag, but I made an appointment to see him that day. When he examined me, he confirmed that I was having a miscarriage. This was devastating news to me, but he displayed absolutely no compassion. I started crying and he still showed no emotion nor offered any comfort. I asked through my tears what I should do, and he replied that there was nothing I could do, that I just needed to wait it out. He then left the room without another word - no further instructions, no words of comfort, not even "I'm sorry." When I went back to the receptionist, I was too distressed to even talk, so… she didn't take my copay, just told me I could go. They then have the nerve to use a collection agency to go after the $10 copay. After several days, I visited a new OB-GYN, Dr. Christine Masterson, who is absolutely wonderful. She told me that his instructions to just "wait it out" were incorrect, that a follow-up exam is needed after a miscarriage to make sure that the uterus has been completely emptied, the cervix is fully closed, and that a D&C is not needed. So not only is Dr. Blum's bedside manner abhorrent and callous, his practice of medicine verges on incompetent. I would stay away from this man.

Dr. Blum has been my doctor for about 10 years. He was good to just go to for a yearly check up. But when it came to my first pregnancy he rushed me through the appointments. He did not answer my questions or put my mind at ease. I unfortunately miscarried at 11 weeks and he was not sympathetic at all. He did not even apologize or help me think about my next pregnancy. I will not be going back to him after that. He only works twice a week now and I talk to his answering service more than him. Would not recommend if you are a first time mom or are planning to get pregnant in the future!!
