Dr. Richard William Brandes, MD

I've been a patient of Dr. Brandes for 8 years, and I trust him with my life. Probably because after nearly 15 years of suffering from Crohn's disease and not being listened to by my doctors, he gave me my life back. He took the time to listen to me, my fears, my history with this disease and develop a plan I could manage. This is an ugly disease that has broken me more than once and Brandes has been there every time to give me new options. To give me hope because he never gives up, even when I feel hopeless. The thing about Brandes that people may misunderstand is that he cares deeply about his patients. He puts his heart into his work. He isn't afraid to tell you what you need to know and risk making you mad, because your health is that important to him. He's direct, but he is also kind. He's smart too and knows his stuff. I frequently ask weird questions, and he always knows what I'm talking about because he continues to update his knowledge. I respect that a lot. I highly… recommend Dr. Brandes. He is one of the best doctors I've ever had (and I've had a lot!).

I have been seeing dr. Brandes for about eight years now... He is rude and dismissive completely ignores your symptoms even if they are severe he has done many tests on me but never gives me any way to treat what's going on and it's gotten to the point where every time I go in I'm seeing for about 5 minutes I can bring up the symptoms are having and they just dismiss it

My son was diagnosed with Dr. Crohn's Disease even after the test came out inconclusive. I asked if it could be a food allergy and maybe we should test for that next. Dr. Brande's said no his symptoms are consistent with Crohn's and put my 17 year old on Humira. My son got worse and spent the next 1 1/2 years getting worse and being sick all the time. Fevers and headache and heart issues. When we went back for a follow up Brande's told me, the mother, that he was not going to put fraudulent chart notes in his file when I asked him how could he say its Crohn's when the test come back inconclusive. After destroying my son's last 2 years of High School and not getting better. He decided he was done with giving himself injections of medications every 2 weeks that he felt like he had no quality of life. He went to the allergist and it was confirmed, he had a severe nut allergy as well as garlic, and Soy. That was basically what we ate everyday in our foods. My son is 100% better since we… have deleted those foods from his diet and off Humira.

Could possibly be the worse Dr I have ever seen. I had an emergency appointment due to severe abdominal pain and he was the Dr on call. He asked me a question after I said 2 words he interrupted me and said he read my chart with the phone calls to the office. He put the stethoscope on about three places and barely touched my abdomen. Then wrote a prescription and gave me no fallowup information. Horrible bedside manner.
