Dr. Richard J Bransford, MD

First, anyone considering surgery with Bransford needs to make sure you get all your questions answered by him before your actual day of surgery because he does NOT see clients the day of surgery and many times you won't see him after surgery either. He also may not talk with family after surgery even when specifically requested by you. Many times, no one will even talk with family members who are waiting in the waiting room after surgery. He will not tell you this when you're planning for your surgery with him. Secondly, Bransford will not be in the operating room with you for the entire length of surgery. He depends on physicians’ assistants, residents and anesthesiologists to manage everything from pain med to the actual surgery. He may not even be present when you are cut open. This is crucial information to ask about before surgery because once again you will not be informed about any of this before surgery. Make sure you specifically state you will not go back to the operating… room until you physically see and talk with Bransford because he is unlikely to be in the operating room when you first enter. Third, you will spend a lot of time during office visits seeing other people and then Bransford will often slip in when your appointment is coming to an end. Everything in this review is something that happened to me both times I had surgery with Bransford. You need to think hard of every single question you may have, no matter how minute or obvious you think a question may be.

After suffering a bad back injury on the job, I saw six different spinal surgeons that all agreed I needed reconstructive spinal surgery but they all thought it would be too risky, finally I was referred to Dr. Bransford, he told me of the risks involved with doing a pedicle subtraction osteotomy, but this was my only hope of ever walking upright again. I had over a 40 degree sagittal imbalance, was hunched forward like a person in their 90's at 48. It's been about six weeks since my second surgery (they did it in two parts a week apart because it took over 16 hours) and I couldn't be happier with the results, just to be able to stand up straight again, I do have some numbness in the skin on my legs, but even if it's permanent, I'd do it again, just to have my life back, thank you, and all who assisted, so very much!!

Dr. Bransford did surgery on my back in 2008 at Harborview Medical Center. I recovered quickly and extremely well. I had experienced several years of terrible back pain which increased with time. I soon was and am now completely pain free. I highly recommend Dr. Bransford not only for his skill, but also for his caring attitude.
