Dr. Richard Bruce Buckles, DO

My husband and I were patients for many years to this doctor..we kept going to him only because we didn't know there was another GOOD PROFESSIONAL DOCTOR in our network..What finally made us look for and find another doctor was when my husband went in to see him..My husband had not had anything to drink or eat in 3 days because he was so sick and couldn't keep anything down..He was actually grey in the face and hanging his head over the doctor waste bucket..Instead of sending him to emergency right then, like he should have..He gave him a prescription for nausea and told him if he wasn't better in 48 hours then go to the hospital..My husband was still sick the next day..I called the office and talked to the assistant to Dr. Buckles who then let me talk to the triage nurse who then told me to get him to emergency right now..She saved his life not Dr. Buckles...He was almost in full renal failure and his electrolites were so low that it affected his heart rate..When his heart rate… would go down from 197 beats they had to stop his heart and start it again.The heart doctor at the hospital gave my husband a prescription for Metrprol to make sure his heart rate stayed normal and told him to make an appointment to see him in a month to see if he still needed the medication...Once he was out of the hospital we had to go back to Buckles to have his electrolites checked with a blood test..He came in the office , sat down with his arms crossed and ask if we wanted to talk to him.My husband told him about having to have his heart stopped and started again..His response was to put his finger on his artery and said "this is all you had to do to bring in down"..Like he's so much smarter than the 7 people and doctors that treated my husband..He then asked if we were still going to the heart specialist..We said "yes" and he stomped out of the office while telling us if we wanted to spend thousands of dollars on this specialist then go ahead..He didn't say this comely ..He was angry and yelled it..That was the last straw with this guy..We now have changed our primary doctor to James R. Grimes who is kind and really takes his time to explain things..I only wish we had changed from the pill doctor to this real doctors years ago..But our consolation is that we never have to see Buckles again...

First visit with Dr. Buckles. No problems. He had great advice for me, refilled my meds. He is opinionated, which I like, because at least he has them, and shares them. I think he is great! I PREFER A DOCTOR, WHO ANSWERS ME, AND TALKS BACK TO ME.

My family have been patients of Dr. Buckles for 20 years. Dr. Buckles is a very caring, knowledgeable, and professional doctor. He gets to the root of the problem, without a lot of unnecessary tests. He is straight forward and doesn't sugar coat anything. He follows up at every visit on letters from other specialists and makes sure I'm on point for any other things due (ie well woman, eye, etc). If he feels you have something he cannot handle, he will refer you to a specialist. His staff is very nice and willing to help with whatever papers need to be filled out for FMLA and insurance.

This was a very rude, mean, and socially unacceptable person. Said some hateful comments to me, i.e., when he (shouted) "why didn't your last doctor treat your high blood pressure?" I responded, "I don't know." He murmured, "Why WOULD you?" Just a real fart of a doctor.

Dr. Buckles is a very ethical PCP. He truly cares about his patients.

This doctor comes across as understanding and caring at first. At susbsequent visits he is very arrogant and confrontational and totally ignores or insults you when you bring forth your health concerns. My elderly mother had a recent hospitalization and was instructed to follow up with a particular specialist after discharge. She needed a referral from Dr. Buckles first and he was very ignorant about it. When my mother returned to see Dr. Buckles after the visit to the specialist he was very ignorant to her and even started scolding her. My poor little sick elderly mother was just sitting there in a wheelchair while this doctor hurls at her " Well, what did he do for you that I couldn't do?!" , and "Let him write your dirty medicine", and so on. It was unbelievable. Every time she tries to tell him of something she is truly suffering from he blows it off and when you press for more thoroughness he gets extremely rude and challenging. I do not like how he talks down to you. Not everyone… that walks in the door is medically ignorant. And yes, he is all about the insurance. Every time my mother asks for something specific he always says "Insurance won't pay for that" . My Mother has great insurance and we always check prior and already know whatever she is requesting is covered. Armed with this, he will usually reluctantly relent. I have had to have words with him at the last two visits about how he talks to my Mother. She is sick and doesn't even want to be there. She doesn't need to be the target of his ego. Moving on.

We've gone to Dr. Buckles for over 20 years. He's gracefully, intelligently, and kindly dealt with our families every life stage and illness. You couldn't ask for better.

You have to have a certain kind of attitude to actually get along. Kind of hard to hold a conversation because of his sarcasm.

This dr. is an older dr. with old ideas. He is not up to date on medical procedures. He also works for the insurance companies, and not the patient.

Seems like Buckles only wants his money so he can retire and won't have to deal with patients anymore. Was extremely rude to me after I got a second opinion that recomended surgery (Buckles had literally said "It's nothing. I can't see much reason for you to go to an Orthopedic because I don't think there is anything wrong." I ended up needing two major surgeries (got a 3rd opinion, as well). Also, I've had multiple appointments that lasted less than 1 minute. I actually timed him. Maybe he was a good doctor at one time, but he just doesn't seem to give a crap anymore
