Dr. Richard Henry Callari, MD

Received a phone call this morning from Dr. Callari who was scheduled to do surgery on me tomorrow morning. Chronic Sinus problem. Been waiting three weeks for this surgery. Been very sick for months. Been a patient of his since 2011. Someone called me last night with a very bad connection and a very thick accent claiming to be his nurse. It sounded like she was in a telemarketing room and the call came from a New York number. I've been to Dr. Callari's office many times and I've met his staff. I've never heard of this woman or heard anyone like this in his office, so I was a little suspect. Her name was Pascale and I found her difficult to understand, which I even apologized for...she hung up the phone on me. The length of that call was 51 seconds. I called the out of area number back to get the person's name. She spelled it for me and hung up again. That call was 17 seconds long. Again, this was after hours from an out state number and I found it hard to understand her. I never… raised my voice or uttered a single curse word. This morning I get the call from Dr. Callari inquiring about the very brief communication I had the night before with his nurse of four years named Pascale. She clearly exaggerated the tone of the conversation presumably to counter a possible complaint on my end. The good doctor, or so I thought, cancels my surgery for tomorrow morning. He tells me that it isn't an emergency anyway. If he walked in my shoes with sleepless nights hacking and being horribly congested for four months, perhaps he would think differently. Nevertheless, I explained the phone call. I am a lawyer of 27 years and I also am loyal to my staff, but this completely blew me away. He told me that I could come pick up my records and Cat Scan DVD's and hung up the phone. My father was a physician. I have all the respect in the world for doctors. This behavior just blew me away and I thought I would share the story. If you absolutely are set on using this doctor, please remember to bring candy and flowers to his staff so he will follow through with a surgery he deemed necessary or you may get a phone a night before saying he's just changed his mind. And I was still going through with the surgery despite two of his ENT colleagues suggesting in confidence not to have him operate on me.

Dr. Callari has treated me several times over the last 15 years. He is an outstanding Doctor who is highly qualified in his field and this is who you want when you have a problem. He carefully explains your situation and logically goes over your options. I have referred many patients over the years and they were extremely appreciative that I did. I highly recommend Dr. Callari.

I love his office, his staff, and he is the best doctor I have seen in the South Florida area. I have been his patient for years and would recommend him to anyone needing his specialities.

I had an ear infection that lingered for months, then got so bad I was forced to see a doctor â?? I hate going to the doctor. He diagnosed it immediately, and I started feeling better in a day based on the drops and antibiotics he prescribed. Callari is a ball of energy, but he explains everything patiently. He's friendly but no-nonsense. He gives excellent advice for keeping yourself from having to see him again for the same problem. For someone who hates going to the doctor, I wish they were all like him. Lest this sound like one big lovefest: His office staff is ice cold. Don't even look you in the eye as you hand over your credit card. Whatever. They're not the ones with the degrees on the wall. So who cares.

I had such a great experience there. Dr. Callari is a great doctor with such a sweet staff. I recommend this office highly. They made me feel like family.

I love this doctor! He is so funny and really knows his stuff. The office was easy to locate and the staff members were so sweet. I would love to work there if I could!! I will definately come back when I need an ENT again.

When I called to schedule my appointment the lady who answered the phone was very nice and very helpful. She even offered to email me the paperwork to fill out ahead of time which I think all offices should offer. The office was clean and organized. Dr. Callari treated me like family. He made me laugh and made me understand what was going on with me. I found out I had throat cancer that day. The lady in the front desk, Christine, was so kind hearted and sympathized with me. I am thankful for Dr. Callari's office. If you need a great doctor with a nice and organized staff, you've chosen correctly.

What a great experience. The wait time was not long at all. Very friendly and efficient staff. Dr Callari really set us at ease with his demeanor, which was very funny, friendly and yet professional. They send the prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice, set up testing for you, get authorization from your insurance and all with a great attitude. WOW! now that is a nice change.

I had my deviated septum repaired by Dr. Callari three weeks ago. From my initial consultation through each of my follow-up appointments, Dr. Callari demonstrated a level of knowledge and caring that is truly awesome! He is very thorough and does a great job of explaining things. He is patient and has a bedside manner that, unfortunately, isn't seen very often any more. His office staff is also very helpful and professional.
