Dr. Castillo is knowledgeable prompt, decisive, to the point, and wants to live in Bernalillo.

Doctor listened to my questions and concerns, explained procedures in lay language, gave explanation of alternative for less invasive procedures if applicable. Tried least complicated procedure (epidural) first even though did not have positive effect for me. Referred me to other surgeon for actual surgery.

Dr. Castillo was a gift from God. He saved me from the most excruciating pain I have ever experienced. It is true that he isn't a "people person" but he lights up when he starts talking about the science and anatomy of your problem. He's a surgeon. His patients are asleep most of the time. It's understandable. The results were fantastic - they were what they needed to be and cosmetically he did an amazing job! I have a tattoo right where the incision was made and after 4 months of healing, you can't even see it. Totally invisible and my tattoo was lined up PERFECTLY! He is an outstanding surgeon.Things were great until my 6 week post op. He did not refer me to a PT and was supposed to. Renee, who was wonderful, kind, and accomadating at first, became rude and uncaring. My calls stopped being returned. It took days and days for refills of my basic medicine. I requested referrals to another pain management doctor when my insurance stopped paying for my visits with Dr. Castillo, and can't… get the woman to return my call. I have been waiting for ONE WEEK for a refill on my pain medication. I haven't slept in days the pain is so bad and she could care less. I'm sick of being ignored. What a great experience... ruined. Full service from start to finish DOCTOR! Otherwise, you have dropped the ball and failed. What a waste of good work...

It is unfortunate for such a wonderful surgeon to have such an awful staff person - Renee. She constantly lied about "I'll take care of things" to me. My FMLA and short-term disability terminated because she did not do her job, then she had the nerve to reply to me, ".. I'm sick of this!" Totally unprofessional, blamed others for her mistakes, and unwilling to do her job.

Dr. Castillo is a terrible doctor. He doesn't show any intrest in treating the patient. His intrest is how soon he can get rid of you so he can get his next patient in and recieve payment. I would not recommed him to anyone. He performed a surgery on my lumbar spine. It was a disectomy which helped for a few years. Which I had to tell him to do because he would just keep telling me to take some pain killers or get another shot.Now that I try and tell him what problems I'm having with back pain and not being able to walk or stand he says theres nothing he can do. Everything I say to him he blows me off and says that has nothing to do with it but offers no advice or medical help. Its like I have to pry any information out of him. If i dont ask questions he will just sit there and look at his charts and doesnt say a word. I would not refer him to anyone.
