Dr. Richard Fred Cohen, MD

It's been a while since I've seen Dr. Cohen, and I suppose that's a good thing when you have cancer. 11 years ago I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Lung Cancer and given 1 year to live. I was also told to put my affairs in order. Not only did Dr. Cohen perform radiation therapy, he was the first to encourage me by telling me he didn't believe I had only a year to live. He told me I'd dance at my son's wedding. He was right, I not only danced at my son's wedding, I lived to see my grandchildren and enjoy them. I love Dr. Cohen, he not only did what was medically necessary, but he took the time to encourage me emotionally before anyone else did. Bless him. He's the best!

I was referred by another doctor to see Dr. Cohen. I went in to see if I would be a candidate to receive Radiation Oncology on a scar to reduce the chance of the scar resurfacing if I were to have the scar removed. I was told Dr. Cohen loves to do these types of innovative cases so I was happy to go in for a consultation. I was never told that just by seeing Dr. Cohen for one minute and him telling me I am not a candidate that his office would bill my insurance company $500 for the consultation and then bill me out of pocket over $300 when no service was performed and no future service would be scheduled. Had they told me there would be a possibility of me being billed over $300 for a 2 minute conversation that turned into nothing, I never would have agreed to see this doctor. As far as I am concerned, his note and consultation were useless other than to tell me that I was not a good candidate. Absolute waste of time and money.
