Dr. Richard Alan Crane

Good clinician. Never had a child custody dispute.

The thing you have to understand about custody cases is that half the people involved-or more-are mad at the expert, opposing lawyer and judge. So, anybody involved in these cases gets a lot of bad reviews. For example, Crane is an old guy who doesn't see patients, so the review from someone who said Crane asked her stupid questions when she saw him for an auto accident is probably really from someone who didn't like how her custody case went. A couple of the other reviews seem like they are from real people. I can understand them being mad if the report supported their ex. If you can't be mad about that, what should you get upset about- that the waiter didn't bring you your dressing on the side? My experience was that Crane was pretty fact based. He said what person or document his ideas came from. I give Crane a good rating; family court, not so much. Your ex gets to bring in things taken out of context and the lawyers and experts charge too much.

I have known Dr. Crane for twenty years. He saw his last patient in 1997. The woman who claimed in 2014 she saw Dr. Crane for treatment after an accident is confusing him with someone else. Other reviews come from people who lost a custody case and are unhappy with the outcome. When Dr. Crane was in practice, he receive many unsolicited testimonial letters from patients he helped. That was before the Internet.

Sadly, this he is incompetent; and that is merely an understatement of fact. Sadly people such as Dr. Crane belong behind bars. He is usually chosen by a particular law firm to be used as an "expert" in the field of child custody issues. There is no correlation to the truth concerning what he claims to be fact. It is a tragedy that he continues to practice psychiatry and that the Judges and Courts are not "on to his game."

This psychiatrist is a pathological liar that manipulates data to create his version of the truth; which sadly bears no relevance to the "truth". He is the talk of Chicago in general, and the North Shore in particular. It is amazing that he is on a list of Court accepted Doctors used for evaluations in Custody Battles. Avoid this person, he is the scourge of his field.
