Dr. Richard Craig Dobyns, MD

Dr Dobyns treated my husband for several years before he died 4 years ago. I could always count on him for information, guidance, empathy and understanding as well as appropriate referrals when necessary. It was a hard journey but Dr Dobyn''s response to our needs made it easier. I felt like he was a team partner.

Literally told him what past doctors had said and then right after said "okay so we don't know what's going on" then blatantly said that the peer reviewed and accepted autoimmune disease that I have been tested for EOE which shows high white blood cell count in the throat, said that if does not exist. Went in for multiple issues and he just referred me to several different offices instead of trying to deal with my issue. Not only was he incompetent, but rude as well.

No way should a patient put their trust in what Dr. Dobyns tells them to do medically or otherwise. In my 11 months as his patient he never touched me until our final visit 3 weeks ago. Yet he stands and cut out all my medicine for Asthma and allergies.. Last week end I landed in the Hospital with my lungs and heart filled up with fluid .They took 23 lbs of fluid off my lungs and heart but the damage had been done to my heart. I now must see a cardiologist for the rest of my life. Look elsewhere for a Good Doctor as this man should not be in Medicine

He kept removing medicine I was prescribed by other doctors. I ended up in the hospital with 23 pounds of fluid after he removed my diuretic 4 months ago. This caused damaged to my heart. He also refused to prescribe my inhaler's for asthma, even though I had difficulty breathing. He also refused to refer me to an allergy doctor. The first time I tried to contact him, to refill my inhaler, I had to call 3 times in a week to finally have a nurse call back and tell me I wasn't "evaluated for asthma" so he wouldn't be refilling the prescription. The next day I called for a referral and was told I had an appointment in two weeks and would be evaluated then. That's a long time to be without an inhaler when you have asthma.

Dr. Dobyns has no empathy or concern for others. He thinks he knows all there is to know and it doesn't matter what the patient may have to say or how experienced they may be. He seems to need to be in control of everyone, rather than being a doctor who cares for patients and their needs. Too bad--a waste of medical education on someone who should have gone into a field where he didn't deal with people. Medicine needs doctors who care, doctors who listen, and doctors who are not so rigid and uncaring.

Terrible! Self-righteous. No, I would not go to him again.

My interaction with Dr. Dobyns was in 2011 i believe. That's a long time ago, but i still remember my experience and feel the need to share. I went in with a pinched sciatic nerve that i had been managing with my GP and physical therapists for the last couple months. They said i needed an MRI before they'd prescribe any more pain meds. I was miserable. I eventually got the MRI (2 months later after health insurance was figured out) and it didn't show anything major (a lot had been fixed by this point through 3x weekly therapy but i was still having issues) . At this point he completely refused to help with any of my (still existing) conditions. I asked him if he'd heard of gabapentin or any other non narcotic options he'd be willing to consider. He basically laughed at me, said OUT OF NO WHERE that it seemed i was most likely bipolar and that his *ONLY* piece of advice was to start an extremely strong drug like lithium. (i have zero history of bipolar). In the end, it was fake,… condescending, and frustrating. That's all I have to say.

Arrogant, and out for himself. Has totally lost perspective in pursuit of political gain. He should get out of medicine.
