Dr. Richard Deane Feenstra, MD

Extremely personable; cares about my health; insists that I work on exercising to help me with my blood pressure and my sugar.

His staff is attentive and friendly. I have seen his PA several times and she is very professional. Dr. Feenstra has been my primary care doctor for over 10 years and has helped me through several medical episodes iwth great care and excellent advise. I recommend him to others as their needs demand.

He listens and cares and takes time and has a pleasant sense of humor.

Dr. Feenstra has been providing care to me for more than 20 years. I know he will do whatever he can to help keep me healthy. His office is conveniently located and staff are very helpful. Billing is always swift and accurate.

I already felt that Dr. Feenstra was simply blas about providing excellent care, when I had a defining experience with him. I was on my way (driving 45 minutes) to see him, needing to discuss lab results, to receive a referral to a specialist, and to get a refill on a prescription. I came upon an accident on I-96, which slowed me down considerably, so I called his office to tell them I'd be about 10 minutes late (no big deal, since I always wait 25 minutes there anyway). I was told that I would have to reschedule my appointment--even though I'd driven 30 minutes already. Oh well, they do need to keep their schedule, I guess, so I asked when the next avail appt was...THREE WEEKS away, I was told. Rather upset, I took the appt, turned around, and headed back home. fifteen minutes later, I realized that it was time for my scheduled appt. I called the office again, asking if I could speak with Dr. Feenstra briefly, since I knew he wasn't busy with another patient--as this time that… had been blocked off for me. (I had a few ?'s and wondered if he could phone my Rx into the pharmacy so I wouldn't have to do without meds for 3 weeks.) The receptionist put me on hold for five minutes and then came back and told me, "That's not how it works. You have to wait [three weeks] for your appt to talk to him." I fired Dr. Feenstra then and there.I know that doctors don't generally make house calls anymore, but a doctor who won't TAKE your calls? I call that very feeble.
