Dr. Richard Arthur Fermelia, MD

Dr. Fermelia performed bariatric surgery on my daughter. At the time, she had been living with secondary progressive MS for many years, was not significantly overweight by medical standards. She endured no less than 5 emergency abdominal surgeries after the initial bariatric surgery. She recently passed at the young age of 45 from dead bowel and sepsis (the coroner noted an arterial rupture at the band area of the initial bariatric procedure. Two other people I know have had complications from the surgeries performed by this doctor. My impression is that the patient is $$$$$ and is not concerned for a good outcome for the person.

We met Dr. Fermelia while my daughter was in the ER for a botched procedure she had done outside of Nebraska. He took her on as a patient and said he would see her through the three months of follow up care that she would need after he performed her initial corrective procedure. He did not have to provide her care as it was not his mistake. He said he had a daughter her same age and he would treat her as if it were his own child. He is a god send at a time when she really needed it and I am very grateful for his expertise, compassion, and care!

He preformed an appendectomy on me and it went well. Prior to the surgery, he reviewed my CT scan pictures with me.

Dr Fermelia is very knowledgeable and explains procedures exceptionally well. He is very compassionate about his patients. My surgery was a success. Wouldn’t hesitate to refer him to my friends and family.

I feel Dr. Fermelia is a very experienced surgeon. He explains to his patients what kind of procedure is necessary to get the best results for a speedy recovery. My surgery was a success.

Dr. Fermelia was very knowledgeable and did a great job at explaining my surgery prior to the operation. He was kind and caring and very prompt. His office staff was very polite as well! They did a great job at making sure I was ok after the surgery as well!

Dr. Fermelia showed that he understood my pain and talked all suggestion for relief. We decided on surgery and he worked it out on my schedule. He came a week early just so I could keep my vacation plans. Everything he said was true to the procedure. I am very impressed with Dr. Fermelia and would suggest if you have problems that are in his area of his expertise then he is your man. Great person!

I had bariatric surgery performed by Dr. Fermelia. I was on my feet the same day. He is an excellent surgeon and I would have him do it all over again if needed. I trust him completely. He and his team are great, if someone is not happy with the work he's done, I'm sure they've done something wrong themselves. I've seen it firsthand when I had my surgery and was in the hospital how dumb people are. I recommend him anytime!

Fermilia is a hack as a surgeon. I know several patient, myself and my mother being two of them who surgeries were completely botched and caused multiple complications. I don't believe that he is allowed to practice in Cheyenne WY any more and that is probably the reason he has moved to Nebraska. He knows what he is talking about he just cant perform the actual surgeries. Avoid him at all costs.

Dr. Fermelia did an excellent job in explaining, diagraming and performing my surgery from a couple weeks ago. I returned to normal activity pretty quickly and have recovered well from the post-surgery pain. Everything is healing nicely and received a clea bill at my post-op visit. Would highly recommend Surgical Care, PC to anyone!
