Dr. Richard John Ferrara JR., MD

This "doctor" ignored a nickel-sized growth on my heel, although I had melanoma in another part of my body removed two years earlier. He ignored the growth until I ordered him to remove it, and it was only then that he ordered a biopsy on the growth, which turned out to be cancerous, and having it removed cost me feeling in half of my foot. To top it off, his idiot staff (Bethany is a lier) sent me for treatment to a doctor that I had told several times was not part of my coverage. They assured me that "it would be taken care of", but of course it wasn't, and I had to eat the bill. Really should have lost his license by now. I will be plastering this review all over the internet.

Regrettably, I have always used Dr. Ferrara's practice for small immediate treatments and concerns while using a more reputable doctor in Bloomfield Hills for skin cancer checks and procedures. This practice lacks due diligence, they have never inquired or completed a skin screening on me. I will no longer tolerate Dr. Ferrara's and his employee's poor practices after they billed something as a surgical procedure unbeknownst to me and refused to correct their error.

I have been going here for years. Dr Ferrara has a great staff. They always accommodate me and are helpful with refills. It's a very nice office. Best in the area. Dr Ferrara is well respected and is always helpful.

Dr. Ferrara diagnosed my mom with having bug bites and told her she should have her home checked and her dog checked. Even after doing a biopsy on the so-called bug bite, he still said it was bug bites. After 3 visits, an exterminator coming out to her home, having her dog checked her rash was getting worse. The exterminator found NOTHING after 2 visits. The vet found NOTHING on the dog. My mom went for a second opinion. Thank God she did. She has scabies!!! Now she and everyone she had physical contact with must use a special cream. My mom specifically told this quack that she visits my dad in the nursing home very frequently. (best place to get scabies) I did not like this doctor from the begining. His bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired. He is extremely arrogant. I hope this comment will make someone think twice before going to this doctor.

I took my mom here for the first time 2 weeks ago. After the results come back from her tests, we will be looking for another dermatologist. The receptionist is not friendly, they double book appointments, you have to wait at least 1/2 hour in the waiting room, and Dr. Ferrara leaves a lot to be desired! He has absolutely no "bedside" manner. He is very full of himself and arrogant. He is very quick with explaining things and before you know it he's headed out the door! Tell me it's not all about money. My thinking is one day it will all come back to him and he will be treated like he treats his patients.

Expert skin care specialist including more serious problems ie. skin cancer etc.

At times a simple problem was not solved and at other times it was a complete miss diagnoses. He takes advantage of the fact most of his clients are well off and will advise extra tests. He is not all bad and I am a hard grader, but I have been going to him for sometime and I will be looking for a new Derm now

I recommend Dr. Ferrara to everyone. He knows what he's talking about. For as long as I have been seeing him, I have never been disappointed. Thank God for doctors like Dr. Ferrara. Thank you:)
