Dr. Richard H Fleming JR., MD

Years ago I went into an urgent care thinking I was having heart problems. I was 19. They did an EKG only for Dr Fleming to call me into his office and tell me I didn’t have heart problems, I was having anxiety. Fair enough. Not fair enough was his “solution”: think of puppies. No referral to someone with a speciality, no suggestions on actual coping mechanisms, no advice or guidance other than “think of puppies.” This is why people, especially women, don’t go to the Dr. They’re written off and made to feel stupid.

In this day and age when most Doctors are pushing you out of their office after 5 mins, I never felt rushed. He always took the time that each visit needed, very down to earth and friendly. Wish I still lived close enough to see yet.

He said to me and I quote "Should I take you out back and shoot you?" Not professional or funny in any situation. really who expects to have your Doctor (a Mayo Dr.) say that to you when you are sick and in pain. He sent me home with chest pains and trouble breathing, saw him twice with same concerns and one other Doctor at Eastridge within a two week period. they never did a blood test or chest x-ray. 14 months later I am still doctoring for something that if they would have treated right away would not have gotten this out of control. thank you Dr. Fleming for messing up the last 14 months of my and my families lives and draining our bank account every month so I can take meds and seek treatment for something you could have taken care of. The director of the clinic should also be talked about when I called to voice my concern he dismissed me and told me that in his opinion Dr. Fleming did what he could. Hmmm isn't Mayo a research based medical establishment but no blood work… or test were done. sad that Mayo would back a Doctor that would not take the time to listen to his patients and treat them.

Dr Fleming is very congenial, sincere, and thorough. I have seen him for years and appreciate his interest, proper diagnosis and true concern and caring. I would recommend anyone to him.

He doesn't seem to care that much about what your concerns are, in my personal experiences. He dismissed my concerns and problems, and wrongfully attributed them to something that ended up not being the real cause (and which even I knew was not the cause).
