Dr. Richard Gene Gilbert, MD

If you want someone incompetent, enabling, bullying, spineless, and worst of all, unethical, he's your guy. Zero stars if I could. He is known by the kids in the area as the guy that will get you the "good" drugs you want--great that he's so accommodating, but the kids shouldn't be diagnosing themselves. We saw him over many years, and his front-office people consistently were unfriendly, power-hungry bullies. Clients walk on eggshells bc they are mean and controlling. They are also 100% privy to all info in that office, and are not trustworthy. All communication goes through them--I actually had to schedule an appt in order to privately ask him to manage this issue. He refused, saying that he needed her help and is basically at her mercy. Then he fired me, and charged me for the meeting--which had nothing to do with my health. Now we have a new doc, and it turns out, after years of lackluster results with Gilbert, we had all been misdiagnosed!

Dr Gilbert's assistant, Gaylia, took over 10 business days to return my phone call, and when she did she was unprofessional, rude, and sounded like she was listening to the TV in the background. I was not able to make an appointment with Dr, Gilbert due to the lack of responsiveness of his assistant. If she is any indication of Dr, Gilbert's professionalism, which I gather she is, I would absolutely avoid this Doctor.

His manner and intellect are the positives His outer office person has too much power and controls your ability to see him

Knowledgeable, friendly, patient, and approachable. Everything you want out of your psychiatrist.

I recommend this Dr. highly! He is knowledgeable about alternatives to traditional medication and can recommend those first, IF appropriate. He is kind, a great listener and I felt he cared about me as a person. He treated me as an equal. I trust him completely.

Dr. Gilbert has been right-on with diagnosis and treatment of issues. He is very caring and knowledgeable, and a good resource for alternative approaches to health care.

Gilbert charges excessive fees with no value add.
