Dr. Richard Peter Giusti, MD

Always easy going.......made you feel at ease.! Loved his nurse Sheeris!

In a few respects, Dr. Giusti is a typical doctor. Primarily he is always busy and takes what seems and feels like the minimum time with you and then moves on to the next patient. However, there are many things that make him an outstanding doctor, but some of them require a bit of understanding and patience to recognize. Dr. Giusti is from the NE U.S. where we who are from that part of the country are known to be somewhat more direct, even abrupt, by comparison to the mannerisms of the south. You have to learn two things with Dr. Giusti: come prepared and do not be afraid to tell him he needs to spend more time with you, and be patient. You will not find a more concerned doctor, one who looks after you in ways not obvious. You will not find a doctor more competent in cardiology nor one who is aware of and concerned about your overall welfare. Why do I say these things? I have been his patient for decades. It was he who discovered a hiatal hernia as the source of chest… pains, not heart problems. It was he who during a routine stress test noticed an irregular heart beat, stopped the process and had me in the hospital the next day for a catherization by a doctor he recommended who, by the way, also conducted a very competent examination. It was Dr. Giusti who noticed in blood tests that my white blood cell counts were increasing and that I likely had a form of leukemia. He sent me right away to Moffitt Cancer Center in 2006 where his diagnosis was confirmed. I've just finished 6 months of chemotherapy. I cannot tell you how many times other medical professionals asked me what I had and who discovered it. When I mentioned it was my cardiologist, RNs to other doctors were impressed. When I relayed that reaction to Dr. Giusti, he modestly said that he checks on all of my problems and what is being recommended for treatment. So, let me close by saying that I gladly trade off a few minor aggravations for medical competence and caring. I have been well-cared for in his hands.
