Dr. Richard Alan Goldfarb, MD

Brought in my elderly mother after she had been suffering over 8 months from repeated UTIs while under the treatment of a gynecologist. Dr. Goldfarb reviewed her history, asked questions and performed a brief digital exam, upon which he immediately noticed degradation of the mesh from an old pelvic sling operation. Her gynecologist of 6 years had never even noticed this nor mentioned it might be a issue. He later performed a cystoscopy to see if or how it was affecting her bladder. Mom was dreading this because her old gyno had done a cystoscopy several months ago that she said hurt terribly (Mom has a very high pain tolerance). Mom didn’t even notice Dr. Goldberg had started the procedure; I had to tell her he was already done. Her old gyno didn’t want me in the room for any procedure/exam or even office visits (said I had to wait outside!) so I referred to my medical power of attorney and insisted (which I now do for EVERY doctor visit after that terrible cystoscopy); she… started noting in her chart “daughter in room” or “daughter asking questions” for every appointment (I got copies of Mom’s charts for Goldfarb and saw that). Seriously? THAT is relevant information for my mother’s medical record? Dr. Goldfarb is great. He answered both my questions and my Mom’s, and doesn’t seem to mind me being there to assist Mom. He diagnosed the source of her infections, explained how he thought it should be treated, and made sure we understood his instructions. He is now completely in charge of any urological issues or concerns; I trust him to take good care of my mother and would recommend him to anyone.

Excellent Doctor with great bedside manners.

I had been a patient of Dr Goldfarb for yours so I trusted his opinion that I needed a bladder sling. He did not ask me questions to see if I even needed one, he didn’t do any testing and he didn’t offer conservative alternatives before saying I needed surgery. He placed the sling too tightly around my urethra and dismissed by post surgery issues. He was unprofessional and didn’t talk to me about my concerns. Rather he would pass me off to his nurse.

Yesterday I took my 95 year old mother who was diagnosed with a tumor in her bladder per a CT scan that was done. Dr. Goldfarb was very empathetic and kind in how the treatment was to be handled. Then with his expert eyes and mind he ended up doing a cystoscopy in the office to be more conservative before the biopsy was to be performed and he found NO tumor! We are forever grateful to Dr. Goldfarb for all that he did for our family! Hands down he's the best!!!!!!!! Great bedside manner, relaxed, smart and very kind staff!

He had been my doctor for many years. Trusted him. He did an unnecessary procedure and mocked me when I said I was having issues. He denied issues were related to his procedure. He lied about how many of those surgeries he had done and was unavailable when I was hospitalized because of it. He didn't seem caring or concerned. He didn't do any tests to determine if surgery was necessary. Unless you are a doctor or a family friend, his bedside manner is not good.

I have been under Dr. Goldfarb's care due to a Dr. referral. When it was confirmed I had serious prostrate cancer the Dr. Goldfarb explained all available treatments for my condition, in great detail. I chose to have Dr. Goldfarb perform traditional surgery at Methodist. I could not be more pleased with the outcome, treatment and care shown buy Dr. Goldfarb and staff. When I have post surgery questions the follow-up by staff and the personal calls by Dr. Goldfarb is spot on. Dr. Goldfarb's skill, professionalism and patient centered concern is second to none. .....if I had it to do over, I would make exactly the same decision, no second thought.

This was the absolute worst doctors office experience of my life. I waited over an hour and a half in the lobby and then in his office. I thought to myself that it's okay as long as he is thorough. When he saw me it took him 5 minutes to diagnose me, which is fine, however he did not seem focused on my condition nor was he willing to explain my condition as good doctors will do. When confronted about me being unappreciative of his service, he responded with profanity and told me that he had been doing this 30 years. I felt unbelievably uncared for.

he was very effective in treating my 80+ year old mother. He was only urologist who was able to identify and control chronic infections.
