Dr. Richard William Hempstead, MD

Dr. Hempstead is very knowledgeable and cares about his patients. He also has a light, very good sense of humor that makes the appointments enjoyable. His staff is nice and courteous, the waiting room is pretty and relaxing and his practice runs on time. I like Dr. Hempstead!

Solid dermatologist motivated with excellent training and devoted to his patients. Staff match his motivation and are very personable. Waiting time is very quick and efficient.

I can't emphasize enough how great Dr. Hempstead is and has been to me. I had a malignant melanoma and he successfully treated me for that. He is the only Doctor I have ever had who calls me personally with lab results after a biopsy. Great bed side manner. Very nice man and we always have interesting conversations while he's checking me for spots.

Dr. Hempstead is thorough! I had noticed several 'suspicious' moles. Dr. Hempstead performed a complete exam, found more moles and other dermatological spots - which he treated on the spot! He took 2 samples for biopsy & both were skin cancer. He excised both skin cancers on a subsequent visit, and there is no scar. I now have regularly scheduled appointments every 6 months - where the Dr. compares his data from previous visits to my current skin condition, and he treats new problems immediately. Office staff is quite cordial. Dr. has appts scheduled so he sees patients on time. (Note: I give Dr. James Kerners office a 0 star - waited 1 hr and 45 minutes after appointment time and was never seen! Staff had lots of time to chat and fool around, but couldn't be bothered to give patients an idea as to how long the wait time would be!)

Since he is a good doctor, there is a waiting list for new patients, but once you have initial visit, the follow ups are according to the serious of the problem. He cares for his patients heath.

Gave one star because there is no way to give none! Scheduled an appointment 3 months ago as a new patient, my husband has to schedule his days off @ least a month in advance because he works M-F 5am-7pm. Received a call the day before the appointment and was told they had to reschedule as the doctor had to go out of town. Luckily Dr. James Kerners office actually has great patient care and customer service, as they were able to get us in for that very next day! As far as doctor Hemptead is concerned, if this is how they treat you before they have your money, I can't imagine how they treat you once they do! Will never try to see him again, will never recommend!

Very knowledgeable and gets things accomplished quickly! If you are a new patient, it will take several months to get in. It is worth the wait.

Excellent dermatologist with outstanding ethics. He will not accept drug samples, trips, etc. from sales reps so he will not be obligated to them.Good sense of humor and good bedside manner. I don't have insurance anymore; his office charges me about forty percent off the insured fee for paying cash.

Dr. Hempstead has always spent as much time with me as needed to address my issues, and he is very concerned with preventive approach to skin care. Preventing skin cancer is his # 1 priority.
