Excellent physician with attentive and caring staff. Highly recommend.

For almost a year, today is the first day I have hope of a better quality of life! I had been to my primary care physician and two other specialists for multiple visits and tests with no solution or even a specific diagnosis for what I am experiencing. I was finally able to get an appointment with Dr. Houk, and I began to hope as the visit progressed. He took time, he LISTENED, he asked questions (lots of questions); he was deliberate in his examination and paid CLOSE attention. He requested additional testing to insure that there was not another problem that could also be compromising my health. He asked about all of the other medications I was taking and their discernible efficacy. He made some recommendations on how one med in particular might better serve me, he made me aware one that another might be problematic based on some recent health events. He was able to render diagnosis in keeping with the problems I have been experiencing for quiet some time. He covered a number… of foods that often exacerbates my condition and STRONGLY recommended that they be removed from my diet; this is in an effort to help with the disease. It is such a relief to at least to have a diagnosis, to know what I am dealing with, and to have a plan going forward as to how to live with it. By the end of the visit I was welling up with tears ... because for the first time in a long while I felt hope for some relief. Other doctors made me feel as though it was my imagination, or that I could work (even though I could not, because of the constant pain (and all that goes along with constant pain)). I strongly suggest that doctor's listen to their patients; you may not understand what is going on in their bodies (but they do), you may not immediately know the answer but listen anyway, and never be dismissive of what your patients are reporting ...even if you can not diagnose the problem. I am encouraged going forward; I am eternally grateful for Dr. Houk!

He Is an incredible doctor. He takes time to explain things. A caring and kind man.

My wait for my appointment is usually only 10 minutes or less. He is very helpful and answera all my questions. Spends time with me. Since I have been seeing Dr Houk I feel so much better.

Dr. Houk is an impressive person. He is kind and patient and takes the time to listen, and he is open-minded and thoughtful in his approach. He is not just a prescriber of the newest latest and greatest pharmaceuticals but interested in your overall health and nutrition. Learning I had RA was difficult, but knowing I have the best rheumatologist in the state has helped me cope with and come to terms with this disease.

Dr. Richard Houk has been my doctor 28 years. I had been to 4 doctors and finally the fourth doctor referred me to Dr. Houk. He diagnosed me with fibromyalgia. He has adjusted my medications over the years as needed. I have injections as needed. He stays up to date on current medications and procedures. He is kind and strives to keep me as healthy as possible. I follow his recommendations. Therefore, I still live an active life. I do not have one negative thing to say about him. He’s the best.

I had the privilege of having Dr Houk as my Dr for approximately 19 years. He was a plus in my book. Treated my condition not the symptoms other Dr s did.. Unfortunately he is no longer with the LITTLE Rock Diagnostic Clinic. If he practices some where else in LITTLE ROCK I would use him.

Dr Houk is the kindest and most concerned dr I have ever been to. He stayed on top of my RA to get in front of damage to my joints and to try to keep me out of pain. He has treated me for 20 years. I sure don't want to lose him. I have only positive thoughts and praise for dr Houk. BAustin
