Dr. Richard Scott Johnson, MD

Dr. Johnson is the most knowledgeable, empathetic, caring, physician that I’ve encountered in my life. I would recommend him to ANYONE in need of clinical care. He treated my husband in the ER before he passed away. I can’t explain how much he really cares. God bless you Dr. J!

Why these people (yes, physicians are just people) are allowed to get away with this, I don't know. It is counterintuitive that they are in a field meant to for one, lessen suffering, but first of all -- to do no harm. (All doctors take this vow.). I was in your ER on CHRISTMAS DAY, AWAY FROM MY CHILDREN, for God's Sake, for the very reason I stated. Do you honestly think I would have my sister, in from New York, take me there otherwise? To get a hit of something in the miserable emergency room?? You would not even allow me to address the "many practitioners" I had seen which in your mind triggered an angry lecture and two people sent to throw me out of the room -- me, a 50 year old woman doubled over in pain. AND I EVEN HAD SURGERY SCHEDULED IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS FOR THAT VERY ISSUE. Do you know what it feels like to be treated like that, talked to (yelled at) that way -- as if you are LYING -- when you are absolutely desperate for the help of the person who is shaming you… angrily? I will tell you: you never get over it. A sensitive person like me no longer trusts the world. I have developed PTSD, which I never saw coming. And I have sole custody of three hopeful, innocent children who are looking to me for everything they need. Go ahead and profile me again if you read this. Dismiss me as needing a psych evaluation. You were a bully when I was down and out. There is NO excuse for treating others with no compassion. Compassion can be used always. You have no excuse, Dr. Johnson.

I have never wished that there exists "karma" more in my life. I was told, first thing, by Dr. Johnson that he thought a psychiatric consult was appropriate. I told him I HAVE a psychiatrist. "I am having excruciating gallbladder/stomach pain." His behavior, it would appear, was based on my list of prescriptions and practitioners that he had pulled up. I have had a "mysterious" and severe back pain for six years and, yes, have seen everyone I can think of to try to get to the bottom of it. And guess what? One of the MAIN symptoms of gallbladder problems is UPPER RIGHT BACK PAIN. Dr. JOHNSON refused me treatment and actually had two hospital employees come in to force me to leave. I was at one of the lowest places I had ever been in my life, and to be treated this way......There aren't adequate words. Dr. Johnson, I have now had my gallbladder removed and feel much better. I am a "good" person; you are not a good -- or even nice -- man. Maybe don't rush to judgement so… quickly with the next poor soul who is your patient and presents a somewhat complicated history.

Upon a recent visit to the ER at Baptist Medical Center, I was met with great enthusiasm and attentiveness. Mine was a complicated condition to diagnose. Dr. Johnson surprised my wife and I with his great wealth of knowledge and ability to deduce the root of my condition. He was efficient and spent time helping my wife and I understand my condition. You don't typically find this kind of service elsewhere. I am thankful to have had Dr. Johnson on my case.
