Dr. Richard Enoch Kaufman, MD

All of the negative reviews are because patients dis not want to pay for the Concierge practice. I did and my wife did. It is the best money I ever spent. Dr, Kaufmann is answers his cell phone at all hours and weekends, It is a whole new world of medicine. He is one of the most respected physicians in Connecticut and these negative reviews have nothing to do with his skill, dedication and caring- he wanted to give proper care and concierge afforded him that opportunity to serve a smaller number of patience well.

While I completely understand that primary care physicians are underpaid by insurance companies, the move to a concierge model was very disappointing. Initially we were told it would be a hybrid model with some patients choosing concierge and others allowed to stay as traditional fee for service. Then after a few months patients were informed either sign up for concierge or find another physician (fee for service patients would no longer be accepted)...apparently the concierge patients were taking up more time than expected. I would have thought the vendor who consulted on this would have been able to model out time requirements for a hybrid model and guided to how to operationalize, but apparently that was not the case. I had been a long time patient and absolutely love Dr Kaufman, but this model just didn't make economic sense for me, so I was forced to find another doctor. Overall, I have never had anything but great experience with Dr Kaufman's care over the years, but this… model change was a surprise and obviously quite disappointing personally.

He abandoned approximately 75 percent of his patients to go concierge at $2500 per year per patient whether you see him once a year or 25 times The rest got a letter saying while he was concerned for their welfare he was no longer their doctor

Too old now. Made a number of mistakes. Forgetful. Record keeping sloppy. Feel sorry for those who agreed to his Consierge practice for $2500 a year. They'll see he's not worth it. He is an egotist and thinks he way better than his actually is.

Dr Kauffman sold his soul. He turned a 30 + year practice Concierge and basically dropped a large number of patients to cater to the elite of his practice. He sold out for the money without having any concern for the placement of those patients who couldn't afford Concierge. to another physician. Many many of his patients have chronic illinesses and he just dropped them midstream

Ever since Dr. Kaufman has gone concierge his practice has gone downhill and it does not seem as if the welfare of patients is the number one priority.

Dr Kaufman is a great doctor but I am extremely disappointed that after 40 years he refused to see me because I hadn't been seen in 2 years. I was told when I called for an appointment that he was retiring and scaling down the practice and anyone who had not been seen in 2 yrs could not get an appointment. The assistant I spoke with was very abrupt and rude. I had been a patient of Dr Kaufman since I was 18yrs old, my mother, my sister, my husband and other family members went to him as well. When I asked if I could speak with him about this I was put on hold for 2 seconds and then told he would not speak to me. I could not even leave a message for him to call me. I never received a letter or notification. When I asked about this I was told "well why should we contact you". However when my husband saw him he was told directly by Dr Kaufman that he had no intention of retiring anytime soon. Very, very disappointed Dr Kaufman. I truly loved you and thought you cared about me… and my family.

Do Not Go to this practice. They do not care about their patients personally. I was a patient for 30+ years and due to work constraints (I am a nurse and have to cover multiple shifts on call) and I missed 2 appointments that I PAID FOR, over the course of 30+ years and NOW they tell me I cannot see my doctor any longer. This is BAD PATIENT CARE AND BAD PRACTICE. Previously I have come to my appointments but have been kept WAITING for up to an 1 & 1/2 hours, but that is OK. You should be able to understand that at some point in a person's life they may miss appointments that is BEYOND their control!!!! UNACCEPTABLE for a MD that I loved who I THOUGHT cared about my well-being. I am extremely disappointed in him and his practice.
