Dr. Richard S. Lazzaro, MD, FACS

I recently had esophageal surgery that included part of my upper stomach valve. I was referred to Dr. Lazzaro by my gastroenterologist and I couldn't be happier. He was thorough, listened to my concerns and helped me make the right decision for my course of treatment. Dr. Lazzaro used state of the art technology, with which he is obviously an expert. His entire staff was fantastic in responding to my inquiries and questions as well. I can't recommend him enough.

I was referred to Dr. Roland by one of his peers. Regarding a hiatel hernia, GERD esophagitis and an extremely high acid reflux level. This had been diagnosed in OCT. Dr. Lazzaro advised he could remove my hernia If I wanted and gave me 3 different procedures. He then starting reviewing the results of the gastro who had diagnosed all of the above, referred with me and referred to him. the results a. When I asked if it would solve the issue he replied he had no idea. He was as far as to stay "if you don't want to have a hernia removed live with it". He never discussed the 3 procedures he requested- he told me to go back to Gastro if i didn't want the surgery, I asked if my esophagus was fine he said NO. I believe he was becoming so obviously arrogant as he was totally unprepared. As the day before his office called to schedule a test Dr. Roland had already scheduled and had the results on. I asked him to bring up my records I would take him through, he said he had no access these… are all doctors within Lenox Hill. He became abusive to the point he appeared unstable. It's my guess he became so erratic due to the fact that he was unprepared and perhaps this is not a condition he normally handles.

Dr. Lazzaro is an extremely caring surgeon who took time to make me comfortable. He was readily available to answer any and all questions post operatively and called me regularly to see that I was ok. I was very surprised that he took the time to do this and I was grateful as it relieved many of my post operative concerns.

Kind, caring, professional and everything you would want in a Dr.I have cancer in both lungs but am confident that Dr, L is going to give me many more years of quality living, He and his staff fill me with positive energy. The first robotic surgery was so successful that if I have to go back for surgery in other lung, I will not hesitate.
