Dr. Richard A Matano, MD

The very best vascular surgeon, period. Great bedside manner and is always there for his patients. He just left my bedside at St. Francis Hospital just before 9pm on a Tuesday.

He was very arrogant with his bedside and office manner and argumentative when I told him I was a Post-Polio survivor who was infected as a fetus from my mother who had polio while pregnant. Dr Richard Bruno, who was an expert in the field had sited several cases though rare in his research and book, Understanding and Treating Post-Polio Syndrome

I was recently treated by Dr. Matano for an abdominal aortic aneurysm. He performed my surgery and him and his staff were excellent. Thank you a million for treating me and for the work that you do. I feel much better after the procedure and am very pleased with the results.

Dr. Matano recently treated me for advanced varicose veins and an incompetent valve in my left leg. In short, my leg was a mess and my foot was virtually blue. Dr. Matano's work in reversing that deterioration was nothing short of miraculous. I give him my highest recommendation. In addition, his entire staff (from the ultrasound technician to the front desk professionals) was highly efficient and friendly. I did incur a few long waits, but I would chalk that up to Dr. Matano's thorough approach and the time he devotes to each patient.

I had a 2 day hospital stay and some complications with my chemo port. Dr. Matano came to check up on me several times and made sure that I was ok. When I had the port removed he came to his office on a Sunday just so he could check my wound. He was kind, thorough and compassionate and went above and beyond to take care of me. I would highly recommend Dr. Matano. His office staff is also very professional, kind and accommodating!

I would highly suggest you do your research on the above before choosing him to care for your senior mother or father. All doctors should be commuted to saving their patients lives. This was not the case for our family. We live with this everyday.

The worst surgeon I have ever seen in my life.Not only does he not stay in touch with family members, he couldn't give 2 shots less about his patients. In my opinion he should not be allowed to do any more surgeries because he is too uncaring of a human to deserve his position as a reputable surgeon

Do your research. Find another surgeon. If we had known we would of done the same. St. Francis Hospital, Roslyn, NY, can no longer be trusted for providing care for our loved ones.
