Dr. Richard Timothy Mcglaughlin, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. McGlaughlin for at least 30 years and would not go to anyone else. He compassion and concern is a major factor in why I have used him all these years.

The first visit was so-so. He seems to be knowledgable, but he kind of mocked me and blew me off. I switched when his receptionist wouldn't schedule a routine procedure for me, and I couldn't be happier with my new doctor. I think he's mostly retired now...only in the office a few days a month.

This man gave me a colonoscopy that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I woke up every 5 minutes through the entire thing, in screaming pain, begging them to stop, but they didn't. They told me I wouldn't remember anything if I did happen to wake up, but I remember every single thing about that colonoscopy. I remember him coldy telling the nurses to hit me again with anesthesia even though I was screaming in pain for them to stop. I remember a nurse screaming into my face to "CALM DOWN." I was so lucid through the whole thing I felt like I was paralyzed inside a nightmare. I had horrible pains for 7 days after the procedure, so bad that I could hardly move. I called once a day, every day, with no reply from Dr. McGlaughlin. I finally was in so much pain on the 7th day that I went to the ER. At this point, Dr. McGlaughlin finally had to call me back because he was the on call doctor. He very condescendingly told me "you had this pain before your procedure, I don't see why you are in… the ER." I assured him that this pain was different. The ER told me that I had golf ball sized ovarian cysts, and that one of them had bursted during the procedure and that's what was causing my screaming pain. Had he been sensitive, intuitive, or caring enough of a human being to stop and think about what was so wrong with me, all of this could have been easily avoided. Dr. McGlaughlin strikes me as nothing less than a cold hearted pscycopath going through his day to day medical ruitune. I do not wish this man on my worst enemy, ESPECIALLY if you are considering a colonoscopy from him.
