He joined the Radiology Department at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota in 1988 following fellowship training in Pediatric Radiology at Children's Hospital Medical Center-Cincinnati. In 1994, Dr. Patterson returned to Children's-Cincinnati for a fellowship in Pediatric Neuroradiology. His interests include developmental brain anomalies, imaging of the inner ear, clinical imaging pathways, and teaching. He is married and has two grown children.
