Dr. Richard Wayne Rosenquist, MD

I travel to Cleveland to see Dr. Rosenquist, and he has performed several procedures on me. He treats me with kindness and respect. He explains everything to me in language I can understand. He respects my time, and listens to my wishes about my care. He educates me about my condition, and he has been an incredible advocate for me in getting a proper diagnosis. I wholeheartedly recommend him, and his team.

I had a partial right nephrectomy in 1999 causing permanent nerve damage. I was a vibrant, active 35 yr old the day before that operation and now unable to do anything on my own; it's astonishing how quickly you get over having NO privacy, with anything- dressing, showering, and even using the toilet. Shaving? Non-existent now! I can't raise my arms and certainly can't bend, even an inch. I was living on pain medication which wasn't much help. If I was having a really good day, I could fight through the pain to have someone help me stand. Moving an inch at a time, resting for a minute or two then slide another inch until I got to the edge. Over the course of more than two years, Dr. Rosenquist cried with me, hugged me, held my hand telling me not to give up on him, not to give up hope! He tried injections a few times with short lived to no relief. He said he was determined to help me have a life again, and that there were other treatments coming soon. He was helping to get them… approved by the FDA. Finally the trial neuro pain stimulator was available and we scheduled surgery. When I woke up, he tweaked the settings until he found the best coverage. I had amazing success! I was now able to walk on my own! After the trial period I received the permanent unit. Each follow up appointment I was able to increase my activity, walk faster and further. Words cannot begin to express the gratitude I have for Dr. Rosenquist; he helped to enable me have a life again!! Rating 5 STARS isn't enough for all that he did for me. I am eternally thankful!

I was fortunate to have Dr. Rosenquist as my doctor when he was with the Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. His professional knowledge is phenomenal, and is only exceeded by the interest and care he takes in knowing the patient as a person, with real health problems and a life that can be improved with proper medical care. He was willing to go beyond normal patient care, and once left a meeting in order to give me a pain blocker prior to my being wheeled into surgery. He was often called to Washington D.C. to provide information to our Congress people about pain control and medications. My spouse and I were very sad when Dr. Rosenquist told us that he was leaving Iowa City. His current patients are very lucky people to be able to receive the benefits of his knowledge and care. He is one of the best doctors I have ever known in my life, perhaps the very best one of all.

The patient's of Ohio & Michigan have no idea how lucky they are to have Dr. Rosenquist. I was his patient for 9+ years in Iowa & am looking into re-establishing contact/traveling to Ohio for his expertise.

I have seen this doctor, well his PA, five times. Unless your condition allows you to have a nerve block... do not go to this doctor. When I actually reviewed his doctors notes, which I recommend everyone to do, he diagnosed me with hyperalgesia. I showed no symptoms of it and my current meds had been working for 5yrs with no dosage/strength changes. I would suggest to research him and all of his articles he has written about opioid therapy and that he believes it can benefit nobody. Being he is the Chair holder for The Cleveland Clinic of PM Department, I guess I should have known better, but I assumed he would care about small things such as pain management and quality of life. Like I said before if you can be treated with a nerve block, this is your guy as that all he wants to do, if not I would find another doctor. I know some may read this and think...just another person after opioids but I am currently dealing with 5 bulging discs, RA, sciatica, and gout and surgery is not an… option, yet for me. Some people need medication to control the pain, this doctor puts you all into one category and does not think twice about it.
