Dr. Richard Lee Roth, MD

An awful experience with another psychiatrist lead me to Dr. Roth. I was so depressed and just damaged. I was awful to him in the beginning! He has unbelievable patience! He diagnosed me and we started therapy 2-3 times a week. He never tried to control me, and was wonderful to my husband and children. He has always been a gentleman and extremely professional and compassionate. Dr. Roth helped me tremendously, and took me from lying in bed all day and wanting to die, to making me want to live forever! If you want to get well and feel better go to him!

when I was having a hard time coping with depression, Dr. Roth provided an objective, analytic evaluation of my condition and communicated his thoughts with me in a way that made me think introspectively and encouraged me to be strong and exercise more. At the time I didn't realize how helpful this was because i was emotionally vulnerable. He probably does not know that I feel this way now, but I am just grateful that there are doctors like him around. You can tell he has seen a lot in his experience and well, sometimes experience trumps everything else in medicine. (in my opinion)

Dr. Roth used poor judgement when prescribing medications and he was very difficult to talk to. He neever fully engaged in any of our conversations during appointments. Overall, it was a terrible experience and I would NEVER go back to see this doctor.

Provided next to no information on diagnosis. Time he spent was very brief, abrupt. Not willing to provide information on anything helpful as to what to do when leaving hospital. His approach was hold patient in hospital until no more suicidal or self harm thoughts-this can take months. In the mean time, he leaves family with spouse to care for children for weeks with no communication of how long, what is going on, what flags to watch for-nothing, zip, zilch. No suggestions for when wife gets out. My suggestion, he is past his prime, doesn't know what he is doing anymore, out of touch with modern medicine and patient/family needs. Find a younger more capable doctor.
