Dr. Richard Dennis Schenkman, MD

After searching for a GOOD psychiatrist after previously being diagnosed with bipolar disorder which I knew was a misdiagnosis I came across Richard Schenkman. I decided to give him a try and call for an appointment and I was totally shocked with how sweet the receptionist was . As I had previous bad experiences with receptionists before at psychiatrists. I was able to get in within 2 weeks and other psychiatrists I called in the past couldn't get me in for 2-6 months !!!! When I got to my appointment the receptionist was very sweet and genuinely cared and helped me when I didn't know about certain things on the paper I had to fill out . I didn't have to wait long before going back he also gave my son toys to play with while I was in my session ! Can you say awesome ?! Overall I felt he really cared and made me look at things in a totally different way . He was blunt and did not sugar coat things which I liked ! I'd rather be told how it is than sugar coating the truth. He took his… time with me and was trying to understand what I was going through and my childhood ! He was not quick to push me out the door and slap a diagnosis on me within 15 minutes and fill me up with meds like my previous psychiatrist. If you need a psychiatrist who GENUINELY cares and wants to help I highly recommend Richard Schenkman . I left feeling better than when I went in and I refuse to see any other psychiatrist after this I feel like I finally have the right psychiatrist who cares about me .
