Outcomes and trust are what I care about most. Dr. Smalling has stellar outcomes and I trust that he's making the right recommendation. He is curt and can sometimes come off of dismissive, but at the end of the day, he has proven time and time again that managing and improving your health is paramount for him.

Dr. Smalling is an excellent physician and surgeon. My father went to see him for aortic stenosis and the TAVR procedure done gave him his life back. As others have said, Dr. Smalling does say it how he sees it and is fairly blunt, but it's clear that he cares deeply for his patients wellbeing. If you're looking for an extremely skilled and intelligent physician, Smalling is the man.

Dr. Smalling is awesome. Great bed side manner. Listens and explains in detail his findings and solutions while compassionate and considerate. His NP is a true gem. I am so thankful to the referral to Dr. Smalling.

Dr. Smalling is the best cardiologist you can find in Houston, maybe the entire country. He cares deeply but will tell you exactly how it is...very straight forward.

Wow, what an awful person. If you want to feel unworthy and like you're a complete bother to someone, go see this doctor.

Much too busy giving speeches and presentations

An exceptional physician and human being in a practice that expects only excellence. I cannot recommend another cardiologist that could surpass him in professionalism, expertise, and vision. He surrounds himself with top fellows and cardiothoracic surgeons that make for a team of excellence at UT Physicians and Memorial Hermann Hospital at the Texas Medical Center.

Dr. Smalling is outstanding and one of the best in his field! I have been a patient for at least 10 years and have excellent care! The patient visits has been very professional and high quality. I love his staff! If you become one of his patients you will be in good hands.

I have to say that I've had doctors who have been easier to get along with, but I feel very lucky to have Dr. Smalling as my cardiologist. He is probably the smartest person I have ever known and when I've had set-backs, it's been clear that he takes my well-being seriously. He can be ornery sometimes, but he's funny too. I know I'm in good hands with him. If you are thinking of making an appointment with him, I would whole-heartedly recommend it.
