Dr. Richard Andrew Sokol, MD

Dr. Sokol is a kind, caring and competent physician. He has treated my entire family for years. He listens carefully and addresses your concerns with compassion and confidence. It will be a sad day when he retires.

I have been with Dr. Sokol for 30 years and he is always spot on with issues and problems. He frequently runs late, but that's because he deals with a lot of geriatric patients with co-morbidities. Couldn't ask for a better doctor.

Because my Dr retired, I had to find a new one, not an easy thing to do. I (along with my wife who is a retired RN) have been very impressed with Dr Sokol since I started in Jan after an emergency hospitalization. He has been thorough in every facet of my disease processes, has asked questions, listened, and followed up with appropriate tests and meds. We are so glad he was accepting new patients! Dr Sokol's office staff has been most friendly and I've found the wait time to be acceptable.

I've been a patient of Dr. Sokol's for over 20 years. His is kind, caring and knowledgeable. I've never waited for an appointment for an excessive length of time. The longest wait I've ever had was in the middle of flu season and he was accepting walk-ins because he is a CARING DOCTOR. I hope he never retires. It would be impossible to find another doctor even close to the standard he sets.

excessive wait time caused b/p to elevate. temp fixed I would be directed to exam room after initial check in, however continued to wait over 35 minutes after being called to back. Naturally my b/p would continue to elevate and I would be given new medication for hypertension.

Dr. Sokol is hands down the worst doctor I have ever encountered. He has zero interest in his patients. His clear priority is making money. He is a horrible doctor and even worse person.

Over books appts., blames his staff for everything, long wait time, expresses his political views and personal opinions inappropriately (e.g. staunch Republican, strong dislike for Sentara).

Dr Sokol is knowledgeable,personable and compassionate. In today's medical world he is as close to the physicians of 30+ years ago that you will find without joining a concierge group. His office staff is sometimes lacking however but I am sure that Sentara is the reason for that.
