Dr. Richard Harris Spector, MD

Spending a lifetime in medical research I’ve known many physicians. Dr. Spector was refreshing in not beating the same old drum. His knowledge and expertise are exceptional. I enjoyed his straightforward approach and not doubting my needs.

After spending years in treatment with Dr. Spector (who has the bedside manner of a mosquito) he decided to stop accepting my insurance and said it was OK because I could just pay for sessions out of pocket. Who can afford that when you are paying for the insurance? When I called and cancelled my next appointment, he called the pharmacy and cancelled my prescriptions before I even had a chance to look for another doctor. Thankfully my PCP stepped in and saved the day. Don't be fooled by this uncaring individual who refuses to spend more than 15 minutes with a patient.

Dr. Spector and his office staff are an asset to our community. His skill in diagnosing and treatment of mental health illness is spot on.

Dr. Spector and his office manager (in my opinion & 1st hand experience) have the"bedside manner" of rattlesnakes. If you are suffering from grief like I was or any other psychological suffering please don't make the mistake I did by trusting in Dr. Spector, his employees and his practice. The terrible experience added to the trauma I was already facing. I truly don't want anyone else fall prey to this wolf in sheep's clothing.

seems more interested in talking about himself....reminds you of trump arrogant and always right. tosses medicine around like candy. as for office staff. DEPLORABLE. IMPOLITE ". THE WORST I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED INCLUDING PEOPLE FROM MCDONALDS ETC

I just moved to PA from NC and I was appalled with doctor. Over 3 appointments he still demands to throw out his own diagnoses instead of even request to look at the notes from my previous doctor which took quite some time to come to a diagnosis of BiPolar which shouldn't be tossed around. This man won't give me enough time to learn my very complex history, not to mention his bedside manner is terrible.

i'd like to say that the difference is that they listen to you. others in the past were more apt to just increase your dosages. however as a patient it helps to identify what works for you as a whole. but with this doctor and his knowledge, i've become a bit more comfortable though it's been just for a short time.

I came to Dr. Spector for help and a review of the medicines I had been taking for years. He prescribed so many more and different medicines to add to what I was already taking, switching medicines so often it became confusing on what I should be taking or not taking.I recently had been out of town and thought I might have missed an appointment so I called the office only to be told I didn't miss one but I could not get in until after some of my medicines had run out. When I asked for refills the office staff (his wife and very loud and vocal sister-in-law told me that I could not get refills over the phone. I contacted a pharmacy to see what they could do. The pharmacy phoned the office only to be told the same thing. When I finally got in to see Dr. Spector he asked why I did not call in for more medicine. I explained his office policy to him. He checked with the staff only to be told that I and the pharmacist lied and I never called not did she. When I said that was not true… Dr. Spector said to take it up with his staff. I did and it quickly became a very unpleasant vocal rebuttal of what I had relayed to Dr. Spector. They recanted in front of me that the events I spoke up were true and yes, I did miss an appointment. The charge is $150.00 and until that is paid I cannot make another appointment. This entire incident was very upsetting. The next day I tried to contact Dr.Spector because I was so distraught over this matter only never to have a return call. People go to him because of mental instability and do not need more stress due to his very unprofessional office staff and his refusal to intervene for the well being of the patient.

Have been seeing Dr. Spector for about 4 years, The first visit he nailed the problem. Have felt great ever since.
