Dr. Richard Bernard Stovall, MD

Dr. Stovall Was the doctor on call when I got into an accident on my motorcycle. I had a severe traumatic brain injury and he removed my skull so my brain could swell without really any damage and he put it back in after a few weeks which either saved my life or saved me from being in a vegetative state the rest of my life. I am forever thankful to this man. I’m able to write this, able to walk, talk, drive, and pretty much anything else I want to do because of this man. Thank you Dr. Stovall. -Laura Mae

You will see Dr. Stovall's PA more than you will Dr. Stovall. Normally when a person makes an appointment with a particular doctors office, that's who you expect to see --- not his PA upon each visit. I feel Dr. Stovall is not connected with his patients which leads me to feel that I am a number, not a patient. In addition, his office staff is something else. They are non-caring as well, hard to communicate with and not receptive to your needs. What's worse is the lack of honesty in that office -- without going into full details, a $20 dollar check that I wrote as I checked out, never made it to my bank nor their billing office. But what did happen was that my check was forged for $2500. You decide.

Absolutely positively the worst experience I have ever had with any doctor or Healthcare professional in my entire 62 years of life dr. Stovall staff is incompetent and if you have an appointment before 9 a.m. in the morning you can't reach them because although the office is open and appointments scheduled they don't turn the phones on till 9 a.m. how stupid is that. I did not have a choice Dr Stovall was assigned to me at the hospital if you have a choice go anywhere else

DOCTOR STOVALL DID A SPINAL SURGERY ON ME BECAUSE THERE WAS A TUMOR ON MY SPINE IN MY LOWER BACK HE DID A GOOD JOB ON THE INCISION IN MY BACK. HE HAS GOOD BESIDE MANNERS. HE IS A CONCERNED DOCTOR WHEN YOU ARE UNDER HIS SURGICAL CARE BUT ON FOLLOW UPS, THE STAFF NEEDS ETHICAL EDUCATION. I ASKED TO SEE DR. STOVALL FOR FOLLOW UPS AND INSTEAD, I GET SOME FEMALE (PRETENDING TO BE INFORMED) EACH TIME, AFTER THE INITIAL FOLLOW UP AND I WAS DISAPPOINTED WITH HER MANNERISM. TODAY, I HAVE A TUMOR ON MY LOWER LEFT BRAIN; I CAN BARELY THINK. I AM WRITING IN CAPS BECAUSE OF MY EYEGLASSES.

Before spinal surgery for a fractured vertebrae, I saw and told Dr. about my severe pain in the arm after the fall that broke my back! He said we'd check it at my 2 week follow up. On my second day post-op spinal surgery, I was in more severe pain and my arm was paralyzed. My first call/page was not ever answered, period. The next morning, and also 2 days later, the office nurse told me to go to the ER, twice. I couldn't get in to see my own doctor as a recent post-op pain/nerve complication. The 3rd phone call, I was given a refill on pain medicine by the nurse, and told to go to ER. I've seen my doctor for a few minutes shortly after my injury. I haven't seen him at all post-op and it's been three weeks. Now I hear that the nurse will see me for my post-op check-up, instead of Dr. Stovall. I hear that he's a great doctor, but his staff is rude and should not be denying fresh surgery patients appointments for major problems. The nurse even asked me why I think my arm pain… is related to the injury, and to go to the ER......

All around an excellent Dr. who knows what he is doing. I was told by another Austin based Dr that there was nothing that could be done with my collapsed disc at c5&c6. I was in pain and losing use of my right arm. I called Dr. Stovall and long story short I was in surgery in less than a month! Problem corrected!

I was fortunate to have met Dr. Stovall as a result of serious neck condition. His ease with patients was commendable. My surgical outcome exceeded all my expectations. In the first part of the following year I had a disc problem in my low back while in Germany. I called Dr. Stovall and not only did he operate on me the week after I returned, but on his day off. Needless to say, I was back on the golf course within three months. Both surgeries were 100% successful. Thank you Dr. Stovall.

Dr. Stovall was very accurate in my diagnosis and he spent the time to listen to my concerns then explained my options clearly. I highly recommend him.
